This is the first time I haven't found an interesting player on the list, which says a lot at round 32
Some of these guys have a chance and should be watched but they all have to come a LONG way to make an NHL roster.
Going with Deblouw

The closest name I found to interesting was Harrison. Acolatse and Carroll after that.
I don't get the Billins voting - we saw what he was last year: a poor man's Russell. There is no NHL potential there, IMO.

Harrison did win a couple of sweet bikes at Stampede. Basic vote on that.

NO idea... I picked the first player posted in the thread which was Deblouw... I'm not familiar with any of these players at all.

Ya, but half the guys on this list aren't even good enough for the AHL. Billins might not ever stick in the NHL but he will probably get some cups of coffee when he is back from Russia
There is also a chance he just stays and becomes the next Kevin Dallman

AHL all star. Lead the Heat in D scoring. Looked okay in 10 games in the NHL. We aren't talking the top 20 here. Compare him to a bunch of undrafted or late round prospects, most of who will never play a game in the NHL, and he is golden.

- Harrison: Fan favorite after being a physical forced in development camp a season ago. But he didn't have a great season and he took a step back at development camp this season.
- Carroll: Overage player drafted in the 7 round. More of a convenience pick as he is on the same team as Kanzig (though he could play in the AHL this season). Limited upside.
- Elson: I was higher on Elson last season as a potential energy depth player. But his upside was limited and he ended up in the ECHL for a good chunk of last season.
- Deblouw: Took a step back last season. Doesn't sound like he is all that committed to going pro. Limited upside to begin with.
- Thiessen: At 28 he is the oldest prospect on the list. He has one decent season in the AHL in the last three seasons. Can't see him getting past Ortio, Ramo, or Gilles.

Yes, thanks. I watched him too.
But this is a prospects vote and I see little to no upside in him. He's not even a prospect IMO because I very much doubt he ever suits up for the Flames or their AHL affiliate again.
All of the remaining players are huge longshots. Of them, I see a small glimmer of hope for Harrison. I disagree that he regressed in camp - seemed pretty good again.

Took Carroll. Looks like he could be a slightly more offensive Harrison?
Would have taken Deblouw here. Guy did fantastic his first year in the NCAA, and seemed to be so clutch in the playoffs. After losing his father and battling through that, he sure seemed like a kid on the upswing, and someone that is thrown out in all different situations (defensive acumen, great on faceoffs, clutch scoring). Just seemed to take a step back this past season.
Carroll seems to have good size, speed, plays very physical, great character, and a hands not made out of stone(?).

I don't get the "I don't think he is a prospect so I won't vote for him" that a lot of people throw around. We all have our own definition. But Bingo built the poll so Bingo sets the definition. Billins is on the list.
As for Billins, he is going to the KHL for one year. As I understand it he expects to come back. The Flames qualified him to retain his rights so clearly there is at least some interest in him. Our best roster player followed a similar path.
He is still a long shot to be anything more than a 7D in the NHL. But most of the guys on the list have a ways to go to even be that, and Billin's has a high a ceiling as anyone on the list IMO. He is also closer to making an impact than anyone else on the list.
Good pick for round 32. But so are other guys. Tough to pick wrong at this stage!

On another note, I am surprised there isn't more love for Jooris. RH shot. Plays with a lot of energy. Strong defensively. Good pro debut. Similar player and background to Harrison but he did much better in his first season of college and he is already showing his game transitions to pro.
I didn't vote for him because I like Billin's a bit more. But he will be my next vote. I am just a bit surprised he only has 6 votes while Harrison has 35. What do people like more about Harrison?

I'm not voting anymore, but if I had to pick one from this list it would be Jooris. He's got enough talent to be a call up player, but I wouldn't suggest that anyone else would be able (not including Billins because he's likely not going to come back to North America because his career will go better in Europe).

Dangit, that's the second time I've accidentally voted for Harrison, thinking he was Hanowski and finding myself slightly surprised that he was still on the list.
Going to go with Billins. Easy decision.
Last real prospect on the list IMO.
Harrison laid out 2 good hits in rookie camp last year, and then went an entire college season without scoring a single goal. That's not what future NHL players look like.
