Summer 2013 Flames Prospect Rank Poll Round 1
I know I'm starting another prospect topic, but for tidy reasons I thought it better to start fresh to incorporate a poll.
Lots of disagreement on the Flames prospect ranking so why not poll them out through August and come up with a list that we can refer back to each summer.
Pick the top one left on the list each round.
Some pick on a mix of potential and ceiling, others just on talent ... use your own methodology.

Maybe it's just me but even though a lot of people consider Monahan our top prospect I still think of Baertschi as the new face of the franchise.

I believe Baertschi still has the best chance to be a legitimate top line NHL player.

It's still Sven even though he isn't the Shiny new toy anymore.

Went with Monahan because I feel at this point in time if you had to choose one Flames prospect to build a team around, I would choose Monahan.

I think Monahan has the most potential. He gets my vote.

I picked Bart. While I think Monahan has the more ''important'' position, I think Bart has the higher ceiling and I can see him being an all-star for at least a couple of seasons. While I hope and pray Monahan can become the 1st-line center we all crave, I wouldn't at all be surprised if he only ends up being a #2.
I will be very surprised if Sven doesn't at least post a couple PPG seasons.

I am having a tough time between Sven and Monahan. I have seen enough of Sven to know he will be a special player. Monahan would have been taken top 3 in any other draft and probably would live up to expectations as a top 3 pick.
Can i start my vote for the 3rd round? I pick Gaudreau.

Went with Momo. I felt either Lindholm or Monahan were going to immediately be our best prospect, and I still feel that way. Still love me some Sven though.

Would love to see Monaghan make the team this year as the 2nd/3rd line centre. I think putting him between glencross and jones would be a great fit. Lots of size, speed, grit, and skill on a line like that.

Such a good sign that even the first round is a bit of a debate. Not the easy "Eric Nystrom!" answer this year which is telling.
I picked Monahan but I realize Baertschi is right there as well. Sven's injuries have me concerned, and I came away from that development camp being a lot higher on Monahan's overall game than I had predicted. He doesn't do anything poorly.

I did?
Just think CalgaryPuck (myself included) have the tendency to overrate Centers, and think that Sven's injuries are taking away from how good he is as a prospect.
I actually rate Monahan, Sven, and Gaudreau quite equally. Sven has proven the most at the professional level so far (AHL and NHL) so he gets the top spot.

Sven and Gadreau are IMO too small in stature to carry a team while Monahan plays the most important position and has the prototypical size and overall skills to become the team's best player and leader. As of right now he is the most important player in the organization by a long shot.

Went gaudreau, he could really accelerate the turnaround, and size is his only obstacle, his game is airtight

To date, Sven has played NHL games and shown he can compete at the highest level. For that reason he gets my vote over Monahan or Johnny hockey.
I would be very happy if forced to change my opinion on this following an outstanding training camp by Monahan.

Monahan on account of size, skill, and that he's a center.
That's what every NHL team needs.
