Default Summer Prospect Ranking Poll Round 26

Lots of disagreement on the Flames prospect ranking so why not poll them out through August and come up with a list that we can refer back to each summer.

Pick the top one left on the list each round.

Some pick on a mix of potential and ceiling, others just on talent ... use your own methodology.

Rank to Date
1. Monahan - 45.78% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129540)
2. Baertschi - 82.12% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129559)
3. Gaudreau - 79.58% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129572)
4. Gillies - 45.22% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129588)
5. Jankowski - 51.25% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129608)
6. Wotherspoon - 34.62% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129625)
7. Sieloff - 38.08% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129648)
8. Knight - 39.03% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129666)
9. Poirier - 52.76% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129686)
10.Klimchuck - 53.4% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129697)
11.Horak - 40.2% RO (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129723)
12.Agostino - 31.76% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129730)
12.Granlund - 30.90% (same poll, called it a tie)
14.Reinhart - 45.45% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129747)
15.Cundari - 25.23% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129767)
16.Ramage - 21.18% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129787)
17.Brossoit- 25.51% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129804)
18.Arnold - 43.00% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129829)
19.Breen - 21.94% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129857)
20.Berra - 27.53% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129872)
21.Bouma - 34.81% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129903)
22.Kanzig - 28.13% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129936)
23.Culkin - 33.75% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129970)
24.Hanowski - 28.4% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129982)
25.Kulak - 32.91% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=130013)

And there is your top 25 prospects. Will be interesting to match this list against actual results in 25 years.

Will keep going however, still getting 160 votes per round and a good discussion.

Gotta go with Roy. Really the only one I can see with tangible top-four potential on the blueline, even if it is a longshot.

Ferland vs Harrison for me. I think Ferland has the edge for having a greater potential for scoring.

It is pretty crazy how far Ortio has fallen.

I voted Ferland but I think at one point Nemisz needs to be in the top 30

Getting tough...

I certainly think there is reason for hope with Ferland and I think he will get it together at some point.

However, I can't look past Nemisz any longer. He is very close to being NHL ready if he can take that one more (admittedly very big) step.

It will be interesting to see how many of these guys get 10 NHL games in.

Compared to past top prospects:

2000 #9 Krahn 1 game

2001 #41 Andrei Taratukhin 0 games #56 Mevedev 0games

2002 #39 McConnell 0 games

2003 #39 Rambolt 1 game #97 Donally 0 games

2004 #24 Chucko 2 games

2005 #26 Pelech 7 NHL games, #69 Baldwin , #74 Dan Ryder

2006 #87 Armstrong 0 games #89 Marvin 0 games

2007 #70 Negrin 3 games

2008 #48 Wahl 0 games

2009 #74 Howse 0 games

2010 #73 Leach 0 games

All of these guys would have likely been in the top 10 prospects and almost certainly top 20 the year after they were drafted.

Flames have made 26 draft picks in the most recent 4 drafts.... of these 26 the only guys not in the top 25 prospects (with hope and arguments of being top 4 D-men and top 6 forwards and even future Chara's ) the highest pick that is not on the top 25 prospect list is 2010 #73 overall draft pick Leach and the next highest drafted player not in the top 25 is 2010 #133 pick Ferland.

This valuation exercise appears to be a HUGE vote of confidence in the Flames Drafting strategy from 2010 to 2013... Almost all the draft picks have a chance to play 10 NHL games!!!

I think Nemisz must be closer than Ferland or Roy, based on some AHL experience (albeit spotty AHL experience).

Ferland again! Good combination toughness and goal scoring ability, had a lot of distractions last year, hoping this a rebound year for him.

I went with Roy for like the 5th or 6th time. I don't think there are any wrong answers at this point... it's mostly just gut feelings for me.

I would like to see Rafikov, Ortio and Deblouw get some love too, but it doesn't seem likely at this point.

Damn - missed voting for the 10th tim for Kulak last round!

I went with Eric Roy based on potential upside. Ferland, Nemisz, Rafikov and Deblouw given strong consideration (guess that's my top 30 rounded out).

Admittedly, I really don't know much at all about the guys left.

My vote was between Ferland/Harrison as I view them as more likely to reach their potential (4th line pest) than a guy like Roy.

Went Ferland as he is closer to being NHL ready, and better offense.

Next round: Harrison

I picked Ferland in case "he figures out how good he is".

I went with Harrison because he surprised a lot of people in the flames development camp and almost got in a few fights so I think he's the man for #26
