Summer 2013 Prospect Rank Poll Round 2
Lots of disagreement on the Flames prospect ranking so why not poll them out through August and come up with a list that we can refer back to each summer.
Pick the top one left on the list each round.
Some pick on a mix of potential and ceiling, others just on talent ... use your own methodology.
Rank to Date
1. Monahan - 45.78% ( http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129540)

Close one between Gaudreau and Baertschi for me...
Went with Gaudreau because every time I watch him I go wow.

Just my opinion, but guys like Ramo and Berra aren't really prospects. Even though thy aren't established NHLers, they are too old to even get Calder consideration.....much like Cervenka last year.
Also, you could argue that Bouma and Horak hav too many NHL games to be considered prospects, they wouldn't be Calder eligible either.
Anyways, that aside, thanks for doing this. With the much improved prospect pool it makes this a real interesting process.
Went with Baertschi this time.

Gillies for me. After watching him progress so much last year and being athletic AND big, I really think he's going to be a great #1 goaltender

Sven for me. Slightly over .5 ppg at the NHL level in his first 25 games. If he can stay healthy he will be a top line forward sooner than later

voted for Baertschi but could just as easily be Gaudreau
This will get interesting after the fist 3 (for me)

Sven is #1, can't believe some think he should be behind Monahan and Gaudreau.

We've done many of these things in the summer in the past ... best players by number, best players by position.
Once we actually took the Flames and Oilers rosters play out in building team Alberta position by position.
The most interesting thing is always the move from one round to another, and where the votes go. If you have a tight battle between two players you wonder what will happen when player "A" is graduated and then those voters are turned loose on the list again.
The Baertschi landslide building here shows you that most Monahan voters are happy to go to Sven with little hesitation.

Round 1 was up for debate, but with that decided, this one should be a no brainer. I think it will start to get interesting at #4.

There are many reasons the other 2 could also be #1. The good part is the flames have more than 1 guy that could be a #1 prospect.
I really can't see how Sven would be a clear cut favourite? I get winning the poll, but its certainly not clear cut.

This one is Gaudreau for me. His talent is just off the charts. But Bärtschi is right behind him. These two should go 2-3 for sure.
After that, it's Gilles for me, and then things get more complicated quickly.

Agreed. I think the top 3 are pretty set, though they might vary in slot from list to list. After that, it is going to be very interesting.
Agree with Bingo that Ramo and Berra shouldn't be on this list.

Again, our prospect pool is incredibly deep. The first 3 are a toss up, possibly top 5 are a toss up if you include Gillies and Wotherspoon.
A couple dark horses in Kanzig, Klimchuk and Sieloff in terms of who could turn into the 'best NHL'er'.

The first choice was obviously Monaham but could see an argument for Sven.
This time clearly Sven not another option close to him in my view.

This one is likely over, but I'll keep it up because I think people appreciate the chance to vote themselves daily

I didn't vote for him because I don't consider him a prospect anymore.
