Default Summer Prospect Ranking Poll Round 17

Lots of disagreement on the Flames prospect ranking so why not poll them out through August and come up with a list that we can refer back to each summer.

Pick the top one left on the list each round.

Some pick on a mix of potential and ceiling, others just on talent ... use your own methodology.

Rank to Date
1. Monahan - 45.78% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129540)

Went Arnold, but considered Culkin and Brossoit as well.

Kanzig is interesting but I need to see more.
Breen I see as a bubble guy now, and maxing out at 6/7 guy

It's amazing to me there are 3 players left here that have a decent chance of being on the opening night roster...and they're not being considered in the Top 17 prospects ... How quickly things have changed with the depth of prospects

Definitely agree altho there are definity cases where the unknown is bein overvalued when compared to the "known". For example, Ramage (imo) projects to a Chris Breen type at best (good ahler, probable depth nhler) yet Ramage will go quite a bit higher then Breen on the list.

With that said, this project has been alot of fun and has made the countdown to camp much easier to deal with.

Bouma or Breen. It's a coin flip for me.

Went with Bouma since I went with Breen last time.

I went with Arnold, but there are a few other guys that I had trouble passing over like Bouma, Breen, Brossoit, and Hanowski.

I am also hoping that Elson makes it since he was so noticeable in development camp. Elson, Bouma, and Reinhart would be a fun energy line to watch.

Bill Arnold the 17th best prospect or lower? Are you kidding me?

This can only be a good thing.

Bouma is a year younger..... more of a prospect

This is the year Breen breaks through or tops out as an AHLer. Pelech was Breen's age when the Flames cut him loose.... they are giving Breen an extra year.

Maybe it is the perception of depth.... almost all of the top 16 prospects have not played Game #1 as a pro (Baertschi, Horak, Rienhart and Cunardi are the only ones that have played for $ against guys getting $ to play against them)... All but Baertschi have guys that might not play an NHL game rated ahead of them.

Of the 3 that might be in the line up ???

Bouma and who else?

Berra would have to be over the top better than Rammo 2.6M one way deal .... MacDonald is on a $925,000 one-way contract.

Breen... It would be a shock if he was a Flame on Opening Game. 7 d-men on One-way contracts ahead of him plus Cundari and Billins who have played at a higher level in the AHL. If we were to believe the CP voting Wotherspoon (ahead of Knight and Horak and Bouma) must be pretty close to being NHL ready.

Breen I guess might have a chance if SOB were to be injured

Chances are Wotherspoon and Ramage are in a position where they are starting with the Heat no matter what they do in the main camp/exhibition but if they play as expected in the AHL Breen will have a small window to be a Flame.

Arnold again, I think he should be 5 or 6 spots higher but time will tell.
