Sticking with Gillies. Reinhart pulled an "Ed Stelmach" that last round coming up the middle as folks split the vote between the two goalies.

Gillies/Ortio should be a close one here.

Think it is Gillies.
While Ortio impressed in the AHL last season, Gillies had another great season for Providence.

Might have been interesting to see one of the goalies (Gillies) v Reinhart in a run off. Would the Ortio camp have moved to Gillies while the Jankowski camp moved to Reinhart? How many voters were biased by position?
I voted Ortio. In a runoff I would have voted Gillies. Not because of position, but because my next 3 were: Ortio, Gillies and Reinhart.
Jankowski is going to be interesting. I have him way down my list. 5th last year (a lot of hype and a less deep prospect pool) and likely 12-13th this year. Hopefully he has a breakout year in Providence.

Ortio has shown a lot more and looks to have at the minimum the same upside as Gillies so he is the easy choice here for me.

I know Gillies is seen as having a higher ceiling, but Ortio to me projects that steady consistency you see from so many Finnish goalies today. I've really liked what I've seen from him so far.

I'm happy to see this is a race between Ortio and Gillies and Jankowski is far behind. Jankowski hasn't proven enough to be top 10 yet imo.

Gillies again.
It better be a goaltender this time. So far the top 8 has 7 forwards and 1 defenseman. A bit of a skew towards forwards even with our tops prospects falling in that category. We have some very good goaltending and defense prospects, don't forget.

this was my Jankowski spot again, but with all the discussion on ortio in the last round, i've been convinced to pick him here.

Battle of the goaltenders.
Went with Ortio because of his dominant AHL performance(s) and his brief NHL stint.
Won't be mad of Gillies is picked though. These two are interchangeable and locked as my #9 and #10. Pretty awesome we have two top goaltending prospects in our top 10.

I like both goaltenders, but Gillies is younger, bigger (NHL frame) and has had less pot holes on his road to the NHL.
Ortio looked great in the AHL last year, but he has been up and down since his draft year.

Went Ortio again.
Close between him and Gillies, but while Gillies has had a dominant year in college, Ortio just had a dominant year in the AHL.

Respectfully disagree. They both did very well playing in men's leagues last year but Gillies is three years younger then Ortio and has a significant physical advantage on him considering how much more of the net he fills out. He's got more upside then Ortio.

Yeah I went with Gillies because he's of higher pedigree. I like what Ortio did last year in both the AHL and NHL but I don't know if he screams "franchise goaltender".

Gillies again, I notice how much stronger our prospects are this year, Gillies was 4th last year, and he's already moved down at least 4 spots and is battling for 9th. Wow. Also, Reinhart has moved up 6 spots from last year. That's big improvement. The Flames are starting to look really good.

NCAA is now more important to the NHL than ever before. 31% of all NHL'ers have an NCAA background, and Jon Gillies was a nominee for the Mike Richter award, showcasing himself among the best 'tenders to be playing on college right now.
Still, Ortio has more of that "immediate" prospect that fits into the 2-3 year plan of the Flames (Hiller is likely a stop gap until Ortio is fully ready to take the reigns), which indicates to me that the guy is very close to making the team.
Look for Ortio to have a monster season in the AHL, and I'd put money on a Calgary call-up by January.
