This one might be Kanzig's round! I honestly think he'll at least play 9 games up this year if not more. The guy is huge, wants to improve and the coaches love him.

I think Mcdonald is getting over looked here. Good size and played for Canada at the U17.

McDonald for me. Still needs a lot of development, but has the raw tools to work with.

I just did the math, are we really doing 40 rounds of this? Can we not just strike guys like Thiessen, Acolatse, Billins, Cundari, and Wolf from the list?
I know, I know…we have time for this.

I don't think we should stop. It's good to see where people value certain guys. I think Wolf will actually make the team too. And like you said, we have a lot of time for this...

Yeah, you're right, but I'm not voting for any of those guys that I listed at any point. Cundari and Wolf are the only guys that I would consider voting for, but they've been around too long to be considered prospects IMO.

rinse and repeat:
Goalies are tough to assess, but something to be said about being the first goalie drafted in a draft.

I agree. As for me, I will probably drop out after a few more rounds; in part because I don't really consider the +24 crowd to qualify any longer as prospects, but also because there are a bunch of guys remaining on the list that I truly know nothing about.

You'll be back! You'll all be back!!!
As much as you don't want to come back to the threads, when there isn't any other news or a lot of new stuff to talk about, you'll come to the threads.
This is a perfect time to thank Bingo for making these threads. Talking about drunk bar fights, court cases, over priced leafs and how bad other teams are is getting boring. Thanks for mixing it up with the two new threads every day Bingo!

The Flames team themselves rated McD higher less than 5 weeks ago when they chose him before Hunter Smith.
That said I still voted Smith. The idea of having a giant of a forward that actually has NHL skill as well is just too tantalizing.

This is where I start picking the 2014 picks (past the 1st round).
Toss up between Smith and McDonald, went with Smith because I feel that he has middle 6 upside. Still tough to know MM's potential.
18. Smith
19. MM
20. Wolf

As was discussed in the last thread, it is not necessarily true that the Flames ranked McDonald ahead of Smith. It is possible that it was simply a case that that is how the draft played out.
Typically, once a goalie is picked, several of them go quickly. Treliving mentioned after the draft that they felt the goalie spree was imminent and they wanted to get their guy.
Bottom line for me is that they both have a TON of potential. And regardless of where they were drafted, a big forward has a much better chance of becoming an NHLer than a goalie does. So I am going with Smith.

^ Pretty much this. And they were correct about that, once we picked MM, 4 other goalies were picked in the 2nd round.
