4 full seasons in the NHL and won the Stanley Cup three times.

Hislop is spelt wrong.
Good character player. checker and secondary scorer in the early days of the team. Was in fantastic condition too. Not a big deal now but in the early 80's there were lots of guys who didn't take the conditioning stuff seriously enough.

When I was in grade 10, one of our school's Phys Ed teachers was also a coach for the Canadian Olympic team in Seoul (yeah, I'm old), so Jamie Hislop was his substitute for most of the first half of the school year.
IIRC, his career was cut short because of a pretty horrific eye injury.

Hrdina really only played two seasons (plus 14 games) with the Flames and scored 34 goals in 148 games. Gotta go with Bourque here. Back-to-back 27-goal seasons plus another with 21 goals in 58 games. He was +18 in that season as well. He had his ups and downs but his competition isn't very strong here.

It should be Bourque, but it looks like the sentimental pick is going to win this one.

Bourque has easily the best stats and was a big physical presence as well. It shouldn't even be close. Bourque all the way. It's too bad injuries slowed him down and he gets a mostly undeserved bad rap around here.

Yeah Bourque is the best objective selection. Hirdina was on one of the most stacked NHL team in modern history.

Simply don't have enough harsh words for people voting for Bourque.
Total Tin Man.

There we go - I mixed up Hislop and Chouinard when thinking of the bad eye injury.

Chris Clark for me. Is one of these unheralded guys that came via the Saint John system. Bourque for me was always too one dimensional.

Well I do remember Ken Linseman trying to gouge Chouinard's eye out.

Chris Clark. Heart and soul kinda guy who ended up being a captain in Washington (also scored 30 goals one year). Loved what he brought to the table every night, even if his skill wasn't amazing. Hrdina had pretty poor numbers despite 1 or 2 good years in Calgary and didn't play in the NHL very long. Guys on the '89 team are always regarded much higher whether they deserve it or not.
No to Bourque because he was a lazy SOB. Can't stand that guy.

I voted for Bourque on the basis of his production as a Flame, but in retrospect, I agree with you - I think as consistent team players, I'd take Clark, Hyslop, or Eaves over Bourque. A little early to pick Bouma, but he might win this poll in a few years. Clark was a guy who did have skill, and won the board battles, but no scoring luck until after he left the Flames. Eaves was one of my favourites when he was here.
