Default Jersey Poll - All Time #1

Did this five years ago, thought it might be interesting again. Always fun to see younger fans and older fans arguing over different generations in a battle.

Will put one up a day whenever possible.

Have fun! and Go old guys!

How it works:

I pick off a key group of players for each jersey. I don't use every name, as that gets tedious and unnecessary (probably go with say 5 unless there are many that wore the same number).

I also don't put up a guy for the number he isn't known for (Iginla shouldn't win #24 for example)

Well Hiller would have won without playing a game with that pile of crap up there.

Went Turek just because of what he did with his contract. He made it possible to keep Kipper and I'll always admire him for that.

That and I think he was the one of the early pieces in bringing respectability back to this franchise. Before him the situation in net was ridiculously bad.

Totally agree. I wish he would have come back after the lockout.

I would take Don Edwards before he played for the Flames, but strictly going by time with the Flames, I guess Turek. Edwards was terrible for the Flames.

As a little kid I learned what the word "sieve" meant. It was used in relation to Don Edwards repeatedly.

I went with Riggen who was the first Flame goalie to take the team on a playoff run past the second round. We've only ever had 3 to do it (Vernon x2, Kipper and Riggen)

Plus I just learned we traded him for picks where we grabbed Ranheim and Berezan

No doubt eh?

The guy was a jennings winner and really good goalie before coming over. Supposed to be the stabilizing veteran presence in net for the young franchise. Then he was terrible.

I went with Riggin as he was the starter in Calgary in the first two years, and was huge in that first playoff drive.

Myre was Atlanta and they just didn't put it together.

Edwards was interesting ... great example of plucking a goaltender out of a great defensive team and exposing him in the Wild West. A half year of Gretzky and the gang and his confidence was shot.

Riggin was by far the best of this bunch. As Bingo mentioned he gave us our first taste of playoff fever and played very well.
The rest were average...including the most average of all...Turek.

Turek. What a class act. Came in as the first actual legitimate starting goaltender we had in so long. Was passed over by the emergence of Kipper and then voluntarily restructured his contract so the 04 team could be kept together and the team could stay competitive.

His kid played on my brothers team when they were younger. He is a great guy. I think he might still live here.

Not a lot to choose from but I chose Turek since his sample size was bigger.

Me too haha. Going with Turek here as he brought respectability back to the position. Tomorrow will be easy.

I thought Riggin played the most games for the Flames in this list, but Turek played more.
