Default Jersey Poll - All Time #16

Did this five years ago, thought it might be interesting again. Always fun to see younger fans and older fans arguing over different generations in a battle.

Will put one up a day whenever possible.

Have fun! and Go old guys!

How it works:

I pick off a key group of players for each jersey. I don't use every name, as that gets tedious and unnecessary (probably go with say 5 unless there are many that wore the same number).

I also don't put up a guy for the number he isn't known for (Iginla shouldn't win #24 for example)

Results:
1 - Roman Turek 67.8% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138746)
2 - Al MacInnis 99% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138764)

like 15 I included Hull but he shouldn't win 15, not enough games in a Calgary uniform.

Although he's not gonna win but a shout out to Donovan. Those wheels were something else, big part of 04 run.

I suspect we will get guys who grew up in the 70s/80s to go with Chouinard, and guys who grew up in the late 80s/90s to go with Stillman.

Do we take into account the Atlanta Flames? If yes Chouinard, if not Stillman. Although Donovan a close second

Why shouldn't it be close? Just because Stillman played in Calgary longer? Because he played in Calgary more recently than Chouinard?

WTF, why do people think Stillman was better than Guy "gramps" Chouinard? Possibly one of the best players in the early days. Had a very long tenure in both Atlanta and then Calgary, and was one of the highest skilled guys back then, as well as consistent. His only crime was that he was part of an era that few fans here ever bothered to look at, let alone remember. Oh, BTW, he's 7th all time for points in the franchise's history.

Chouinard all the way on this one…it's not even close.

A lot of us weren't even born yet when he played. Feel old!

Except I grew up in the late 80's/90's and I still voted Chouinard. It's not hard to recognize the better players between generations.

Chouinard played 7 seasons with the Flames, Stillman played 6.

Chouinard played 514 games with 193 goals, 336 assists and 529 points. He scored 50 goals one season and 107 points. Calgary's first playoff run (1981) he had 17 points in 16 games to lead the team.

Stillman had 235 points in 393 games.

No way this should be close. Anyone voting for Stillman isn't looking at the bigger picture here.

Chouinard was a great player who got beaten down by injuries. Stillman was better elsewhere, so it's no contest for me.

I don't equate Chouinard with the Calgary Flames to be honest with you. He was a good player for the Flames, and had a great first year with Calgary, but I'll always think of him with the Flaming A on his chest. Another thing I didn't like about Guy was he and as a country club player. He was also a guy with a losing mentality and was one of those guys that teams couldn't wait to get rid of. Case in point, the Flames literally gave away Chouinard to the St. Louis Blues for nothing, or what we call future considerations. Chouinard was out of the game a season later. I just never thought much of him as a hockey player, and as it turns out, neither did other teams.

You do realize he was practically blind in one at that point?

These polls are factoring in Atlanta as noted by some of the choices (like Pat Quinn), etc.

No, do not recall that at all. Chouinard had bad shoulders but I don't recall anything about him being blind. Where did that come from?

They're not booing, they're Chou-ing

Lanny McDonald's premier setup man, Lanny's great 66 goal season was a large credit to Chouinard
