Default Jersey Poll - All Time #21

Did this five years ago, thought it might be interesting again. Always fun to see younger fans and older fans arguing over different generations in a battle.

Will put one up a day whenever possible.

Have fun! and Go old guys!

How it works:

I pick off a key group of players for each jersey. I don't use every name, as that gets tedious and unnecessary (probably go with say 5 unless there are many that wore the same number).

I also don't put up a guy for the number he isn't known for (Iginla shouldn't win #24 for example)

Results:
1 - Roman Turek 67.8% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138746)
2 - Al MacInnis 99% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138764)

Included Jokinen here as well as 13, he wore both for a good chunk of time.

Went Terence for what he meant to the room and that 04 drive

I freakin' hate Ference on the Oilers, but he was great when he played for us.

Berezan did "score" that really important goal back in 1986...

Toss up between Berezan and Ference. Berezan got credit for one of the biggest goals in Flames history and is arguably the most important member of the alumni when it comes to establishing a sense of history and legacy with this organization.
For that reason he gets the nod over Okotoker.

Voted Ference because he was good when he played for Calgary, and he's still helping the Oilers lose games to this day.

What's not to like?

Went Chaisson out of respect. Terrible accident. Simply too bad.

This is the toughest one yet. A bunch of guys who played 3-4 seasons with the Flames, useful contributors, but no standouts. Chiasson was probably a better all-around dman than Ference, but Ference was very influential in the Cup run. Berezan only played 150 games with the Flames and was never more than a 3rd liner.

I won't vote Ferrence after the gutless move he pulled on Stempniak. Voted Jokinen for the pure skill of being able to hit the goal post and crossbar on almost every single shot.

Tough one. I was immediately inclined to go with Berezan, but am think Ference now. Decisions decisions....

All of them were ok.

We lost a big piece of the teams heart (imo) when we traded Ference. I loved his time here. Now though.....

Shame about Ference turning into a scumbag. I had to vote for him though, just for his contributions in 04 more than anything.

I don't know why but I've always had a soft spot for Perry Berezan. Really liked the way he played the game.

I always thought that Steve Chiasson was a very dependable defender with not too shabby offensive production. He was a decent top 4 defender in those mid 90's.

Cassels was a very dependable, if not unremarkable, depth offensive player. Couldn't play on your top line, but was always good for 40-60 points a year.

I don't know who "Oli" Jokinen is, but we already regarded him at 13, so I'm not doing it again here.

I would go with Ference if he weren't just a bottom pairing defenseman who didn't always bring a lot to the team. He seemed to blossom after he left when he went to Boston.

This is a pretty even group, with every player bringing something decent to the table over no more than a handful of seasons, but I had to go with Steve Chiasson for his overall game.
