I always believed that Lombo would have developed into a better player without that piece of stool Darian Hatcher concussing him with that elbow.

I found this almost impossible ... went with Stajan because he's been here a while, he's known to be a good guy in the room, and the team seems to rally around him.
Lombardi was part of the 04 run but then gone, and Drury wasn't here very long. Drury was the trade that started the Flames back to contention however, Button doesn't get enough credit for some of those moves. Adding Drury and Yelled, then turning Drury into Warrener (and Reinprecht) changed the Flames dressing room considerably.

Nobody should vote for Drury, the guy hated being here from day 1 and wanted out. I will give Button credit for getting Yelle in that trade but to acquire a guy who's stats had declined, only wanted to play in the U.S., and was coming from a division rival was not very smart at all.

IMO Drury is by far the best player on the list though. Is there really any truth that he didn't like it here? I remember people talking about it at the time but I can't remember if it was just speculation or if there was something more concrete

Going with Stajan Has become a good influence in the room , had a lot of hate because of his contract.
Other than Yawney , the others were pretty wide "misses"

Source? Let me guess, Pollock and Joe Sports critiquing the picture in the Sun from the intro press conference where he wasn't smiling, and the fact he was a dull interview, wasnt sucking up to him as they thought he should?

Drury was a skilled player who took over games, and if he got one point, he got multiple that year. Button getting him for the vastly overrated and lazy arrogant Morris was the best move he made without question. He was open to coming back according to Sutter, but the Flames couldn't afford him that next season.

But Drury was #37 here no? For some reason I did think he switched to or from that number before or after he was acquired before the last preseason game in 2002, but can't see my proof of him in #18.

Darcy Rota is about as obscure as you can get. 40 games between trade deadlines in Atlanta. Better known for his Vancouver years which is strike 2 and 3.

Stajan, I guess. Will never know with Lombardi, as after the Hatcher hit he shyed away from going anywhere near the scoring zone with any sort of speed and aggression.

Agree with most of the comments. Tough choice - none are outstanding. Went with Lombo over Stajan just because his best season here was better than any of Stakan's. Bythe end of next season, Stajan (I hope) wins this poll.

I came in to vote for Dave Hindmarch, who was a winger for us back in the early days. He sticks out in my mind because his career was ruined by a terrible leg injury when the nets used to be stuck into the ice and not give when a player crashed into them.
I remember him being a fast young prospect with good upside.

Thanks. Didn't realize he wore 18. He was great. I was at that game where he destroyed both knees - pretty horrifying to watch.

			Lombardi for sure.
Stajan is a solid player, who managed to turn his career around by re-defining himself as a two-way hard minutes player.

But Lombardi was electrifying. Even if you were watching from a bad angle, or from crappy seats, or on a lousy TV on the other side of the bar, there was absolutely no mistaking him for anybody else when he got the puck.

 Dat speed. Much accelerate.

I went with Trent Yawney. Five seasons with the team and was normally pretty reliable. The only year he really struggled was 1995-96 and he wore #8 that year anyway.
He had two really good years in 1992-93 and 1993-94.

This poll makes me remember the stupidity of how they handled Robert Reichel and the fact all they could get for him in a trade was Marty McInnis.

Yawney was the Flames' #3 defenseman for a couple years there. So I guess that puts him at the top of a pretty lackluster bunch.

Yes, I do get the impression that the fairer sex did indeed have somewhat of a soft spot for Mr Lombardi.

Went with Lombo, loved his speed and if not for the concussion problems would have been a much better player.
Also happens to be the inspiration for my CP handle.
