Default Jersey Poll - All Time #23

Did this five years ago, thought it might be interesting again. Always fun to see younger fans and older fans arguing over different generations in a battle.

Will put one up a day whenever possible.

Have fun! and Go old guys!

How it works:

I pick off a key group of players for each jersey. I don't use every name, as that gets tedious and unnecessary (probably go with say 5 unless there are many that wore the same number).

I also don't put up a guy for the number he isn't known for (Iginla shouldn't win #24 for example)

Results:
1 - Roman Turek 67.8% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138746)

Went Reinhart who deserves it, but guessing Gelinas will be close due to the his 03/04 eliminating skills.

In the end Gelinas did it for 2 months in 03/04, Reinhart did it for 9 seasons and was close to a PPG as a d-man in a couple of those.

This one will be close ... really close. I picked Gelinas because of his clutch goal scoring, that matter in a team's history. But Reinhart was one of the best on the blue line, maybe 3rd best damn of Flames all time.

Ahhh good ol' Clarke Wilm. Forgot about that guy.

Want to pick Paul Reinhart for his 2 way play, plus his ability to play forward. Also always showed up during the playoffs. If he hadn't been traded to the Cansucks the year before we won the Cup I think he would have had my vote.

That said, I have to go with Mr. Gelinas. The magic of him ending every series in 04 cannot be overstated. Pure clutch. He should have also been credited with the Stanley Cup winning goal because that damn puck was across the line.

It is Clarke Wilm! I know this because I was the guy with the Clark Wilm Fan Club signs back in 2000, and 2001. He should win on merit because his name is spelled wrong in the poll and people might not know who he is because his name is spelled wrong!

Has to be Gelinas for me. I never watched Reinhart play, and Gelinas was a huge part of the team that made me start paying attention to hockey in the first place.

Though I probably would have voted Monahan, had he been an option.

Gelinas scored two of the most important goals in Flames' history. He gets the nod.

It's a tough one. I recall liking Reinhart at the time, but I have trouble remembering specific games or plays. With Gelinas, there very specific things burned into my brain. I had to go with Gelinas.

Very tough for me as well. Gelinas was undeniably clutch, and the fact that he gets the nod from many despite playing only 2 years speaks volumes.

I went Reinhart.

People forget that Reinhart's play was near all-star level, and although he had injury problems, he really showed up in the playoffs when he played for Calgary. Sending him to Vancouver at the start of the 88-89 season was one of Fletcher's dumbest moves, and Reinhart was one of the big reasons the Canucks took the Flames to came a game seven overtime goal in the first round of their Cup run. Gelinas was great, but overall, doesn't match Reinhart.

Gelinas.

I really liked what both Eric Nystrom and Clarke Wilm did while they were Flames. Wilm was a guy who was always asked to do more than he was suited to do, but performed admirably despite his LOFT.

Nystrom is exactly what he was projected to be.

Guys…Gelinas played 2 season in Calgary. That's it. Playoff performances aside you're ignoring what Rhino did for 9 seasons as nearly a point-per-game defenseman in some very important years in the 80s. Gelinas was great, but Rhino is #23 for me.
