Went with Lindstrom. SWE is really excelling at producing quality NHLers these days and Lindstrom seems to be showing some pedigree in pro and potentially on the world stage.
Crazy that we have legit prospects into the 20's. far cry from the D. Sutter days. And this is why I was arguing we're so asset rich we could afford to deal picks for Hamonic. The cupboards aren't bare and won't be for a while despite having a lack of picks next year.

McDonald. It's not uncommon for goalies to have off years and recover. I think even Carey Price had a rough year or two early on.
If he does, his upside is higher than anyone else on this list, and he's just as likely to recover as anyone is on this list from reaching their own upsides. Personally I think he's fallen a bit low.

Lindstrom. He's a bit of a dark horse to be in the NHL, but I could see him on the cusp in about 3 years time.

You Rebel!
If you're going to pick a different player, could you at least pick one that is getting better over time?

Josh Healey. He can skate, has confidence to move the puck efficiently, and he's a hard-hitting tank.

Looks like he got 11pts in 34GP this season while dealing with a broken jaw, which is up from last season (8pts in 54GP). I understand you don't expect anything from Smith, but I'd like to see another full season before writing him off myself.
It's like his first season in Oshawa where he was dealing with a lacerated hand that season, never got comfortable and played in half the games and did terrible.

Went with Hunter Smith solely because it seemed to get stuck in the craw of Cali Panthers fan for some reason.

Who says he isn't? I mean I guess you are. But he was always going to be a long term project. I would say he's still progressing. Definitely a guy that is underrated by the fanbase overall IMO. HUGE. But can skate and does have skills. I wouldn't count him out at all. I think the Flames scouts have proven they aren't idiots and there's a few reasons they snagged this guy in the 2nd round.
My GM at my old job who was an Oilers fan still raves about seeing Smith in the Memorial Cup for the Generals. He thought he was going to be an NHLer. Powerforwards often take longer and Smith's injury troubles may have delayed that development slightly as well. Huge guys often take a bit longer to get comfortable as well.
Plenty of reasons to think he still has time to blossom IMO. I don't think he's earned a high ranking but I still he's massively underrated by some who have completely written him off.

On that note, Janko was a "long term" prospect as well, and is expected to finally challenge for a NHL spot this upcoming season at the age of 22 as quite the promising package. We're entering his draft+5 season now.
Smith is 21 (late 2014 birthday) and is an older prospect as well, but he's only about to enter his draft+3 season. So hopefully this year we'll see a significant breakout from him, but even if it's a mediocre one I'd be surprised if he didn't recieve a QO (RFA after this season). Certainly not the type of prospect you give up on after only a season and a half's worth of AHL games.

I would have voted Smith too but that article about Lindstrom swayed me for today.

I agree, I still think he can be a top-notch NHL back up goalie, although I don't believe at this point that he is trending towards a starter's job. Chances are, he will have to make his push with another organization.

Lindstrom. After this round I'm not sure where my vote is going to go. I think we have 24 solid prospects, and then after this we have guys like Mcdonald, Smith and Pollock who could bounce back, as well as dark horses like Healey and Lomberg.

Voted Lomberg but have since changed my mind. At this point in the rankings, you should be looking at who has the chance of rebounding to their former higher ranking. McDonald or Smith certainly fit the bill.
