You know, for a moment I tried to come up with something witty about how I couldn't empathize, I could only sympathize, but then I said: that must be so frustrating to have put so much effort into something only to be refuted so readily, and I realized that I was accidentally empathizing with him. I can't quite empathize with this specific situation, but I can empathize with feeling unheard when I'm trying to present evidence.

Now, I usually try to understand my evidence first. I guess maybe I can sympathize with that..

Empathy is core to being human. If all you have is sympathy, that's such a shallow way to experience life. Charlie was obviously a very angry man. He sought to bring anger to others. What a sad way to live your life.

The governor of Utah is such a ####. He keeps saying they need to be careful about assuming a motive for the shooting but he still says, “There clearly was a leftist ideology” without giving any proof, and that the shooter’s partner is “is transitioning from male to female” without knowing if that has anything to do with their motive. I don’t even trust him that’s it true. Just shut up, man.

Never said empathy was weakness, or abnormal. He preferred sympathy over empathy - that part of the quote is always left out.
How did he never say empathy was a weakness when he said that it is a made up, new age term that does a lot of damage? But even putting that aside...

So as a black person, or rather a person who isn't an idiot, #### Charlie Kirk and #### this thread.
And also, if you could respond to this by Acey.

I don't know much about Charlie Kirk, but anything I've seen about him with regards to speaking on black people is pretty horrible.

I think it speaks a lot about someone's character if they support someone like Charlie Kirk.

It's atrocious, like utterly despicable.

Despite being titled an appreciation thread, nobody - not a single person in this thread has supported Charlie Kirk.

I asked yesterday, for a summary of what there is to appreciate about this guy - because I haven't been able to find anyone state what, if anything they appreciated about him.

Again - in summary, given this is an appreciation thread, what are the things we appreciate about Charlie Kirk?

People loved him because he allowed them to air their own racist and hateful thoughts. Just like Trump.

Also, because he has debates with college kids who are still learning how to debate. He's like when a retired pro takes on a bantam kid and then brags about kicking their ass.

Spare me your fake outrage, your fake science, and your fake moral superiority.

He would find your current support of him hypocritical

Did anyone post the video yet of the early TPUSA event where Kirk made his team dress up in diapers in a totally not a fetish thing?

Long story to a short end.
Relatives opening a small sports pub - trial run yesterday so I went and hung out for Bears game. These are hardcore Republicans, not necessarily Trumpers, but...
Cousins wife got to the place late. After kickoff. Sat down by me and first thing she asked was 'did they have a moment of silence for Charlie?', to which I respond 'what the #### for?', which that started a few minutes of back and forth as you might expect. But I did not expect it, exactly. Did not expect the he was a good guy from 'normal' people. Did not expect the completely blank look when I asked if we had a moment silence for the Democrats assassinated in Minnesota (obviously that killing didn't register).

It's worse than I thought, and it's going to get worse.
- both Bears season and America.

People thinking America is one election away from coming back to reality have missed stuff like that. Just how deep the delusions are.

A room full of dead kids from a school shooting gets dropped from the news cycle after a few days, but one dead republican racist dominates the news for a week and shows no signs of slowing down. What an utterly ####ed up and deplorable country

Not to mention the Canadians that would like a space to appreciate him, and hold a goddamned rally.

I'm really sorry your so ####ed up, America. But can you please try and keep it within your own borders? Your stupidity is bleeding up here and making a real mess of previously rational people.
