He's obviously mocking Trump with all of these recent tweets in the style of Trump, but stepping back, it's a reminder of how messed up politics is now in the US when elected officials are teasing and mocking each other on social media. Personally, I've always been more supportive of going the path that Michelle Obama said almost 8 years ago now, "when they go low, we go high", and not stooping to MAGA's levels, but I suppose doing that hasn't worked, so the Dems are trying something else now. I'd still argue though that not going low like the GOP isn't the reason for the Democrats' failures if they actually are thinking that this is the case.

To answer your question. No. When Harper was in power they didn't have a right bias. I would suggest that any left lean was in place then as well. Which suggests little to no influence by the government in power.

Again the media bias fact check site reference in this site, conclude there is a slight lean to the left by the CBC but the more important conclusions are:
- High factual reporting
- High credibility
- Low biased for straight news reporting
- Opinion pieces slightly favor the left, but have been critical of liberal leaders too
- No failed fact checks

Every news outlet has a lean. But the CBC is amongst the most credible and there is no evidence of government interference.

This stuff gets spread and people believe it.
It's a damn shame.

And I'll cut you off before you go there I'll just say, you are allowed to have an opinion. I just think it's one that is really badly informed.

CBC also has, as far as I can tell, the widest network of correspondents directly reporting the news, not just packaging other sources. Not as many as they used to though.

Edit: not to mention local coverage from across Canada. Shut them down and there will be a huge news vacuum.
