I always wonder how many of you I walk past not knowing at the game, or around the red lot.

Hahaha. He obviously does, but he is 100% loyal to the Blues, I feel, so I get it as a fan. He played for them for most of his career, finishing his career there, so I don't blame him.

People should pin an "E=NG" tag to their hat or shirt.

I'm still glowing a day later. What an incredible, story-book game!

The resilience that the team showed is astounding compared to past years. Being scored on by the first shot, first minute of the game put the Flames in pretty deep hole to start off, and having Dallas score to take the lead again after the first tying goal would have definitely broken the spirit of previous Flames iterations. But the way the Flames continued to pour it on despite facing a near-impenetrable wall was just amazing.

Toffoli and Tkachuk stepping up and scoring clutch goals after being criticized for not
delivering this series.

Pretty much every line brought it all and there were no passengers.

Kylington getting injured and being clearly in excruciating pain, yet miraculously making a return for that last part of the game.

The Flames executing every possible improvement that critics suggested, from playing with more pace, getting more traffic in front of Oettinger, getting their sticks on more deflections, having a late trailer to pick up the long rebounds off Oettinger, activating their D aggressively - and yet it almost seemed like it wouldn't be enough.

Markstrom making incredible saves in the 3rd period and OT in the face of unbelievable pressure.

Finally getting a bit of luck with Dallas hitting a few posts instead of netting every single chance that they got.

Then John Gaudreau, taking on a letter with the loss of Tanev, putting it away with the OT winner on a perfect snipe from an impossible angle. A high-risk shot that he regularly got criticized on in the past, and that could have led for a rush the other way if he had missed. But he knew it was going in.

I don't think Oettinger made a single mistake the entire series. Not even any garbage goals for Game 7, just perfectly executed deflections and incredibly placed shots.

I haven't felt so elated about a hockey same since the 2010 Olympics with Canada's golden goal. What an incredible feeling - thank you, Flames!!!

Ditto.
Was at game 1 3 and 7 wearing wig + face paint, likely walked by dozens of CP'rs

nope. Parent was legendary in both 73-74 and 74-75 but the year in question he played 5 games for the Flyers in a loss to the Blues (both were 2nd year expansion teams)

Last edited by looooob; 05-16-2022 at 01:28 PM. Reason: edit: actually maybe first year expansion teams

Change the "G" to "CP" and sell them on the site

In some ways he had even tougher saves because they often came after lengthy periods of inaction. Flames dominate and then - boom - breakaway. Flames dominate then, boom - giveaway and 3 on 2. That's tough.

And then we see a video with Lanny celebrating at the dome and he's wearing a suit. For shame, Lanny. For shame.

I think he also wanted to make sure it was a good goal...he pointed down likely to the tablet. I felt the same way in this day of offside challenges, goaltender interference, rewinding the clock to take away a Flames goal or give them a penalty. I'm always anxious until the puck drops.

Can you imagine? wouldn't need to hire anyone to demolish the saddledome

Johnny scored with 4:51 left in OT. 451 Fahrenheit of course is the temperature when things burst into flame.

You could try a CP style Marco Polo call/return

"Rico!"

"Fata!"

We could do it really covertly.
Like how gay men used to ask "Are you a friend of Dorothy?"

You meet someone in the real world, you ask "Are you a friend of Rico?"
I'm open to suggestions for clever responses.

3. moments after the dropped goalie stick saves Dallas' bacon, Gudbranson loses his stick as the play goes the other way , I remember thinking "damn you hockey gods, so this is how this one ends..well played."
4. handshake line was great, handshakes lines are quite a thing
5. Tkachuk borderline speechless in the interview- that's also quite a thing
Rick Ball was great on the game winning goal and post goal commentary.

Both Johnny and Chucky gave great post game interviews to Ryan Leslie.

I get the feeling the Flames as a unit are now more cohesive and confident in their game than ever before. Bring on the BoA - it will be a dandy!

Not sure if it would be the record, but Giguere in 2003 only gave up one goal as the Ducks swept the Wild in the conference finals.

Ducks gave up 123 shots so that puts him at a .992 save percentage that series. I'd be amazed if anyone has done better than that.
