Macman is the most superstitious of all. Last time the Flames went to the Cup Macman also complained about people with superstition so now he has to do it every time. He'll also deny that he is superstitious but that's also part of how his superstition works.

I'm all for non harmful superstitions, but rejecting your kid who wants to watch a game with his Dad is f'in stupid and not a valid superstition. Keep to the frogstitions. Or, like me, wear a certain pattern of flames sweaters/ jerseys leading up to the game.

Had so much adrenaline running through me that I couldn't stay asleep. Probably slept 4 hours and today I feel like a million bucks!

Bring on Wednesday !

Maybe its just me, but Zadorov playing as much as he did was not ideal. Too slow and just doesn't handle the puck well enough to be slotted into the top4
How many shots did Toffoli have? And a goal? He was not quiet last night.

That's it.
End of list.

We had lowest GAA.

Also, anyone suggesting the lower bowl is no good can stick it! EVERYONE in the lower bowl was standing from the start of the OT power play until the end of the game.

What a frustrating year... we lost so many games shooting 40+ on net after Brodie was done for the year. though it never felt right the way it does under Darryl.

I think Stone was injured the whole Peters year.

And then Geoff Ward's passive systems happened and it felt like Stone's career was done.

Props to Stone for bringing back the same level of play we saw when we first acquired him. But also props to Sutter!
I have a feeling Danielle Fajuita has a lot to do with it too.

Normally he is always out doing 21 year old things but tonight he was at home in his room. So he had asked earlier in the day if he could watch the game with me and I was like "no fn way!" So anthem is done, I am getting all jacked and excited and as play starts he comes out and says "come on, this is stupid, I can't affect the game" and Benn scores and I lose my ####! "Out, out, out, get the F back in your room!" So he walks back to his room laughing and of course I am pissed off. So fast forward to us tying it up and I yell "YES!" Tie game boys, let's go. So the players skate to centre ice and my son comes out and is like "did we score?" and Dallas scores another goal and I just turn to him and yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!, I WILL KILL YOU!!!" Then I chased him into his room and gave him a kick in the ass on the way. Have you ever watched Ren and Stimpy and Ren gets beyond pissed at Stimpy for doing something dumb? That is exactly how I looked and sounded. So he stays in his room and 4 minutes into OT I get a text from him that says I have to pee and I texted back pee out the damn window, I don't care but if you leave that room I will end you! Then Johnny scores, I scream and holler and after about five minutes I texted him he could use the bathroom. All was right in the universe and the frogs rejoiced!
Should be stickied to the WOS.

Haven’t seen any press box reactions. And I don’t recall them flashing to them during the series. Were Brad, Conroy et al hiding from the cameras?

If you had told me ten years ago that someday Keith Tkachuk and his extended family would become the alternate playoff mascots of the Calgary Flames...

He DID hug the post. He was ready. Watching live, I thought maybe he didn't get to the post on time and get set. But the replay shows clearly that he was set, with perfect technique.

The ONLY spot available was the 3 inches above his shoulder. And Johnny nailed it, bar down.

He was arguably their second best forward in the series. Third for sure.

Among many others last night, that shot of Sutter, with a smile on his face leaning into Gaudreau in a raucous building and saying "How does that feel"

Just great stuff.

I'm sure Brady has made a lot of people in the east hate the Sens but he's easily made them that much more likeable for me. Hopefully Matthew signs long-term and we get a Brady vs Matthew Stanley Cup finals one year.

As a follow-up to my "Seven reasons" post in the GDT: https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showth...49#post8294849

Seven reasons why the Flames won Game 7

1) Faceoffs

Obviously the Stars suffered a blow when Hintz was unable to play, but overall the Flames did a much better job on the dot. Jarnkrok in particular -- he atoned for Game 6 by going 4 for 4 on defensive zone draws, and 61% overall.

2) Weathering the storm

On two occasions -- the early Benn goal, and the 2-1 Stars goal immediately after we scored -- the Flames could have wilted and let the Stars gain control. But they didn't. I credit Sutter for making sure the team kept to the game plan like they've done all year and didn't lose hope.

3) Stone was a rock

Having to fill the enormous void left by Chris Tanev's absence, Stone fearlessly stepped up with a monster game. Throwing hits all over the ice and bombs from the blue line, he was a difference maker last night.

4) Nikita's redemption

After enduring a player disciplinary hearing where we didn't know if he would even get to play in Game 7, Zadorov responded with a team high 28:42 in icetime last night. Played huge minutes after Kylington was temporarily sidelined due to injury, and he did not get caught up in retribution on Jamie Benn, knowing there were more important battles to conquer.

5) Jacob Markstrom, Vezina Szn

For the last 52 minutes of the game, Markstrom was perfect. When a goal against could have -- and eventually would have -- ended the series, he did not allow it. They will talk a lot about the series Oettinger had -- and rightly so -- but Markstrom was just as good when called upon.

6) Super Tkachuk Brothers

Matthew on the ice, Brady in the stands. Without question Matthew's biggest goal as a Calgary Flame, at a time when we needed it the most. And props to Brady -- a captain and emerging NHL star in his own right -- for supporting his brother in the C of Red. You will often see parents and family in the crowd, but I don't think I've ever seen THAT before.

7) Johnny Game 7

I'll just repeat what I said in the GDT:

Quote:
6) Johnny Hockey will not be denied

Johnny has taken his game to another level in the playoffs, silencing the doubters that said he would fade away in the postseason. He is, and will be the best player on the ice in the biggest game of the season.
One series down, three more to go.

I refrained from piling on here, but as someone who lost his father in 2015 and has wished every day since that I still had a dad to watch Flames hockey with, reading that story really rubbed me the wrong way.

Last night was an emotional night, I was so happy to share that moment with my (now very tired) 8 year old son and 11 year old daughter. Also thought of my father right after. I can’t help but remember the games we watched, and went to, in the 2004 cup run together.

What a great win!!
