Flames would have to be at least top 8 to make anyone positive last year "right" and even that would only be so so unless they were top 4 or better
not sure what more you want me to do...should I erect a shrine with your name...
"guy says team will fail and they do!"
the prophecy is true! go pick some lotto numbers quick

And clearly many outcomes that make you wrong.

Obviously...if past the first round is the bar 23 out of 31
Final four bar 27 out of 31
Championship 30 out of 31
the odds of being positive are not good at all
After all the BSing of the Canadian div fans one team is coming out, will be the 4th seed without home ice or fans in the semi's playing against Tampa ect. in a full building.
Sports are really terrible

Your trophy is on its way. It’s a bronze of Jim Benning.

Yeah. 31 team league
15 teams don’t even make the playoffs to begin with
15 more end their season on a loss

Painful for local fans because it’s the year all the Canadian teams play each other so bragging rights are on the line
But ... out of curiosity.. Carolina? Why Carolina?

Fun vibes, good team, Sebastian Aho, and that whole division is fun to follow right now. Tampa is a great team to watch, Florida might finally be going somewhere, Chicago is having a surprise season, and I always have a soft spot for Columbus and Nashville. Lots of top Finns too in that division, with Aho, Teräväinen, Barkov, Laine and Lankinen.
Plus it's got to be something in the east, and my GF would punch me if started to root for any team against her Rangers

The NFL does not have no trade protection. Most of those NHL players you mention likely have NMC.

I agree this should have occurred and was perfect time to get done at peak.
Unfortunately I was not surprised that Flames Management did not trade Gio. The organization has not planned succession well ever that I can recall since starting to cheer for this team in 1980 other than Fletcher’s intentional building of the team resulting in the 1989 cup.
Team just keeps hoping it’s core will make the jump to another gear in playoffs....

This is correct. Always bugs me when people say Iginla should have been traded sooner.
I can’t think of a SC contender that was built through trading away of future HOFers.

If you consider fair play to be at legimate risk debilitating brain injury.
Would you feel the same way about your own contract situation if your next work day could be your last ever, or even worse, you had a pretty good idea that you were accumulating brain damage every day?
NFL is a ruthless operation and there is a massive list of broken humans in its wake. Not a good model to aspire to, IMO.

Giordano still has a lot of trade value if the Flames wanted to go that route IMO. It would be a rebuilding type trade for picks and prospects though

Really interesting information from Dom Luszczyszyn;
https://theathletic.com/author/dom-luszczyszyn/
Quote:
16. With yet another victory against Calgary Wednesday night, the Senators improved to 5-2-0 in the season series. They’ve had their number all season and have given Toronto and Montreal similar fits, going 10-7-0 against those three teams. They’re 1-12-3 against Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Vancouver (credit to Conor Hogan on Twitter for finding this), which brings up an interesting question about how important team style is when predicting which teams will win.
Edmonton and Winnipeg are two of the most rush-oriented teams in the league while Calgary and Montreal are two of the most forecheck-oriented teams according to data tracked by Sznajder (Toronto and Vancouver are closer to average). That matters and is probably the main reason a hard-working, but low-skilled Senators team can hold their own against one group, but not the other. The intra-division games have been very interesting in illuminating the importance of stylistic matchups with the Senators being a particularly extreme example. It’s difficult to figure out with the limitations of current data, but it definitely seems like something worth looking into.
|
I'm not a Hartley fan but I much preferred when the Flames played a faster paced game. That's not going to happen under Sutter but I do think that a big issue with this team is they simply don't have the roster to play a dump and chase style.

Criticism is one thing.
One of these MFs legit said that Gio should hang up the skates on his hockey career because he wasn’t good enough to play at his salary.
Guy goes undrafted, works his ass off, plays in the K, wears our crest his entire NHL career, wins a Norris, and has been top D man for years. The guy ages, and is saddled with a n underperforming team now, and some clown seriously thinks he should just call it quits on his career?
That’s some next level ######. ####ing embarrassing.
