Yup. One or the other. Either way, it is infinitely better than the status quo.

Ok Karen, did you want to speak to the manager as well or ...?

I always say the mark of a good team isn't how well they play in their good games, or how well they play in their worst games, but how consistently they play well. That's been the flames achilles this year. Hopefully Darryl can pull out the good more often

Not that this makes any difference now, but to me Darryl is the number one reason the Flames are still in this city. Jarome had been around for a while and things were not looking good until this badass showed up. Other people have made this point but its a good one and i think it bears repeating; Darryl's a made guy in this org, he's a proven winner with a three year contract, and this ####er isn't going anywhere. The players know that, this dude is your reality if you want to be playing for this franchise for the next three years, let's see who responds and who doesn't and then we know who to trade in the offseason. No more excuses.

If they are wins (in regulation please), then that's what matters to me.

I don't believe this is true. getbak posted the League COVID protocols a ways back, and based on my perusal it looks like the two-week quarantine only applies to out-of-province travel. Sutter is already within a couple hours drive of both Calgary and Edmonton, and since this is a decision that was finalized over several days I think he is likely already well into his COVID protocol.

Love it! Sutter is a great coach with a proven track record of winning at every stop. He will turn this team around.

One of Sutter's best assets is identifying roles for players and having those players embrace and succeed in those roles. Veersteg touched on this in an interview two or three days with too many guys not playing well in their current roles. Third and fourth line guys flourished under Sutter and bottom pairing D men battled every game. You don't need to go out and fight and lay big hits to be a Sutter guy. But you do need to battle for lose pucks, win foot races be committed to your assignments and generally give a damn about putting in an effort to help your team win.

Fun ending to the season. Let's go.

The team will be significantly different from here on out, for better or worse.

And it can get worse.

But I hope better.

The Flames generally win when Backlund has a good game.

Considering how frequently we've scored 1 goal lately, it will feel like an upgrade.

So these comfy boys, who've been coddled with participation medals throughout their careers, are likely to find Darryl a tough taskmaster. He'll respect them, and motivate them I'm sure. But he sure as hell won't take anything less than all-out effort from them. A sign of laziness? Ride the pine. Playing Fortnite again until 5 am with your buddies on a pre-game night? Popcorn and the press box for you.

Will surely be interesting to see how he handles this batch of fragile egos. If he builds another "island" like he did in LA, I can see it working well. He doesn't mind mistakes, but he won't tolerate lazy plays.

Is there anybody better at getting the most effort out of his players?

The chief complaints here during Wards tenure was lack of a foundation of effort night in and night out. That's sutters Forte.

A lot of us here including myself have been saying it's fine to lose but lose giving it maximum effort. That's the only way it's going to happen now. Give it all or don't play.

Some guys are in for wake up call. In a good way from a fan perspective. There's 2 or 3 more gears to some of these players and I fully expect to see them after a couple weeks hitting a level or 2 more in their game.

I'm thinking Hartley era levels GAF but this time we have goaltending.
