Seriously? Your team has been the biggest underperformers in the last...forever.
You won some games this year. Good for you. You are the underdogs here. Keep the arrogant attitude and you will be out in a few days.

He’s right. They didn’t even take them. Their effort was below lightly.

The Oilers have been trash 5v5 all year.
Outside of Draisaitl and McDavid the rest of that team is sub par talent wise as a NHL team
Chicago has a better goalie that's more experienced playoff wise.
McDavid looks un interested at even strenght and vanishes when teams take away his time and speed in the neutral zone.
They have to win 3 out of 4 games.
Mission impossible

The effort was there. Their talent is below NHL.

Crosby worked to fill the wholes in his game, that cat is never ever disengaged, and he plays a solid 200 foot game. Plus is generational offensively so Sid to me is Generational.
McDavid is not.
Fans saw that in its glory last night.

I went to an Oilers game last year and it's incredible how much time McDavid is floating around the ice. He has 0 commitment to anything that doesn't involve scoring. I was honestly just as impressed with his lack of GAF his side of the redline as I was with his burst speed and agility.

Caggiulia is not irreplaceable. As far as suspension for head hits, I am OK with that as long as there is consistency in enforcement.
I would expect rookie Dylan Sikura to get the call to replace him in the 'Hawk lineup

Lifetime Suspension

I think if the oilers strike back quickly in game two they could take the series over with koskinen standing on his head and their two nhl players banking on literally every PP.
However if the hawks keep exposing their poor team defense next game and take it, no question they are toast.
Strike early on koskinen in game two and they'll probably fold and float around the d-zone again.

No, you recall someone suggesting that the first game wasn't especially important, as in, not more important than the other games. And that was in reference to a 7 game series. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it held true for a 5 game series too.

With the way the Oilers defend, its going to take Koskinen standing on his head, they are truly truly terrible on defense not only because their blue line personal are mediocre, but their forwards suck at it as well.
I don't think Smith was at fault, he was abandoned except on one goal.
If the Oilers want to win, McDavid is going to actually have to play on both sides on the ice, and I think that there's a character issue with him.
He was underwhelming when the Oilers were last in the playoffs, was underwhelming last night.
To me, he feels like its all about him, and trophies and stats and an executive producer slot on a faux documentary singing his praises.

Powerplay Quarterback

Agreed, the Oil are just too bad at defending, and a fast/slippery team like Chicago just exposes that so bad. Miracles aside, Edm is out here shortly. Could we see Connor pot 5 and be -4 and have a win? Yeah. But that's an outrageous thing to ask for or need.

The best thing if the Oilers go out in quick order is that the fanbase will turn on this core. Demand a dive for another first over all and blame Draisaitl and McDavid and it will be glorious

Nah. They have plenty of scapegoats to go through before they get to the big 2.
I'm interested to see who starts game 2. I'd think it'll be Koskinen.

I watched enough Oiler games sitting beside my Oiler fan wife, that Connor McDavid always plays like he doesn’t care. It always looks like he doesn’t GAF.
At this point, that is who he is. That’s all he has to give.
Honestly, this talk about having him on the Olympic team? I don’t want to see him there, he doesn’t bring what we want to have on the Olympic team. Sure, the team would take a tiny step back on offence, but the Canadian team certainly isn’t lacking for offence from the forwards. You do however want players that are committed to playing a team game and to playing defence. Honestly, the team would be better with McAvi off of it.

I wouldn't want him there because he might actually learn how to play the game with real leaders on his team.

And you just know they're going to land the pick.
By random chance, of course.

Sikura is a hard working guy, but, has had little "puck luck". He does work well with Dach.
Sikura's NHL stats: 47 GP 1 G 13A 0 PIMs +5
