Learning to use the PP as a crutch is going to be their undoing. You just knew that their bottom third of the league even strength stats were going to circle around for a rear chomp when it mattered.
The fact of the matter is that the 2010 Vancouver Canucks did this already but just not so badly biased in that 100% of their offence didnt have to come from the PP, a good chunk of it, but they could still play 5 on 5, it wasnt a complete fire drill in their own zone.
And that got them all the way to the final.
But I dont think taking that blueprint and skewing it to weigh even more heavily to the powerplay is a reasonable strategy for success.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I'm a little torn on this one, I almost want the Oilers to advance to the playoffs and get crushed in the first round. I'm worried if they get bumped in the qualifying round they'll win the draft lottery and pick first overall.

You've clearly never been there then. Once is all it takes.

Louie DeBrusk at the end of the game: The Oilers looked better in the second half of the game.
Sportsnet Central lady when they switch from the game: The Oilers were dominated by the Hawks.
I'm glad someone at Sportsnet can tell it for how it went.
I like how it's the ladies at the studio that don't bother to sugar coat what they witnessed when it comes to the Oilers.
Then again women generally operate less from their ego than men do, so in that respect it makes sense. The closet Oiler fans in the house are feeling pretty bruised right now and naturally grasping for straws.

Heh...My one attempt to visit your country was squelched at the border, as they didn't accept my dog's vaccination documentation, and I didn't want to pay the big bucks to have a vet come to the border.

I love that there is already a thread about Lafreniere on their boards.
What a bunch of d-bags, feel their entitled to everything. Once they feel the series is out of reach, it's time to focus on what they do best: lottery draft party.
I fully expect one of those threads popping up here if the Flames lose tonight.

They'd probably pick another forward and still have a lousy defense!!!! Score 6 every gm. and give up 8!!!

Today, we are all Hawks.

Can we censor these posts somehow?
The Oilers shall never win. Ever. Never score. Never cross the opponents f***ing blueline. Or their own for that matter. Ever.

Watched the game, Oilers got spanked. Had a couple moments but Chicago looked like the better team throughout (though Crawford never looked solid to me).
I don’t know why people want the Oilers to win. Well, I do, but #### that. I want the Flames to win and the Oilers to lose. And then when it’s lottery time, I want the Oilers to lose. It’s easy, takes zero mental gymnastics, just cheer for the Oilers to lose repeatedly in every facet of the game. Even if, on the off chance, they do win the lottery, who in the right mind would be worried about that. Shame that another prospect will go on to a dead end career or hope to be traded. Such is life. But it doesn’t mean anything in terms of their chances of success.
You need defence and goaltending to be a real threat. Nobody drafted 1OA is going to fix that problem for the Oilers.
