What makes you say that?

I thought I explained it. Negative birth rate combined with lower immigration means that over time there will actually be less people living there. Taking into account that the rest of Canada has a population that's growing much faster, and it seems that Quebec will matter less and less in the big scheme of things.

If you did I missed it, thanks for the clarification.
"So we are hoping they all die off."
I know that is a simplistic tongue in cheek statement, but I don't believe the issue will die out, again this is a point of disagreement for us.

Name me a stable democratic nation that has expelled a large portion of its land and population, the majority of which have indicated a desire to remain a part of the larger nation.

So there was no Canadian flag during the swearing in for the PQ's but they were pledging allegiance to the monarch?

So the solution to all of this is to simply ignore it and hope it goes away?

Correct me if I am wrong, but from my 30min debrief on Barcelona (aka I know nothing), it is two different situations.
A) Barcelona has the money in Spain, not Madrid (not verified), and so a Barcelona separation actually comes with more teeth, as money = power. Quebec, doesn't have that advantage in Canada.
B) Barcelona's flag is tribute to the mass murder of locals by the Spanish (Madrid) government, and the oppression still runs deep. You can argue oppression of the french in Canada, but the similarities between the two are almost non-existent. French Canada was not oppressed but nearly any international standard.

Last Christmas I bought a Blu Ray box set from Amazon.co.uk for the sole reason of wanting English-only packaging.
I still look at my Le Seigneur des Anneaux in disgust.
