Quebec Removes Canadian Flag From Legislative Building...
http://thechronicleherald.ca/canada/...oath-of-office
Quote:
QUEBEC — The Canadian flag was removed from its spot inside the Quebec legislature as members of the pro-independence Parti Quebecois took the oath of office Monday.
|
Apparently this is an ongoing tradition for the PQ.
We should start the tradition of "removing" our transfer payments from their income...

Only Canada would permit this type of thing happening with the governments of it's own country.

Only Canada?

Barcelona was a sea of red and yellow Catalan flags as more than 1.5 million people brought the city to a standstill on Tuesday at a mass rally called to demand independence for the Spanish region.

Does this mean we can remove all the French from our cereal boxes and every other food product?

I hate the blatant disrespect and disregard they show for the rest of confederation. It's such a waste of money and effort making the Quebecois feel special, and they repay it with insults. Classy.

I doubt the act of designing a new box, and translating a few words, is a meaningful cost to a manufacturer. Especially one that would translate into passing costs along to the consumer.

Or a to expand on this and ask a better question, how many American products never come to Canada because the company doesn't want to deal with having to come up with French labels for everything?

These people either seriously need to get a hobby or real jobs.

But when the Quebecois come to visit our beautiful Canadian provinces, they're going to be perturbed that there wouldn't be any labels in French! The nerve of us to remove such a convenience for our special neighbour!

lol, you know it's more than just a land squabble right?
The province has shown that is it not interested in being in confederation time and time again, perhaps the threat of expulsion would stop this nonsence.
I have experienced the "Quebec First" mentallity first hand.

As long as they are taking transer and equalization payments, they should fly the Maple Leaf.

No, they haven't. A minority of Quebec citizens of shown that they don't want to be in Confederation; however, whenever the issue has come to a vote (1980 and 1995), it was defeated. The recent minority government victory by the PQ (who only received low-30s percentage support, mind you) had absolutely nothing to do with Quebeckers wanting sovereignty and everything to do with voters wanting a change after nearly a decade of Charest's government and the corruption and scandals that are associated with any party that has been in power for that long.

Quebec annoys me too, but tossing out that much land and the resources that come with it over what amounts to some bad manners is asinine.

In the 2012-2013 year, the following provinces will receive equalization payments: - Quebec ($7.391 billion)
- Ontario ($3.261 billion)
- Manitoba ($1.671 billion)
- New Brunswick ($1.495 billion)
- Nova Scotia ($1.268 billion)
- Prince Edward Island ($337 million)
I wonder if even a tenth of the separatist population realizes how much money they get a year.

Kick Quebec out of Canada, declare war on it, then make a new province without the emphasis on the French language?

haha, bad manners. I view it as something more.
What is your suggestion to resolve this issue?
