So you know what would have happened, and you're not a professional NHL scout? I see.
Weisbrod said two other teams were planning on taking him in the 1st.
Do you know better than Weisbrod?

Apparently there were 25 scouts at the prep school games so other teams saw him and were aware of him.

Mario was big and he was Mario for fatas sake, so that doesn't apply to this situation.
Rick Nash was always good, no lower league baloney.
I can't think of any skill player who is huge and came out of nowhere. Penner maybe.
Has hockey been as heavily scouted ever as these days?
Jamie Benn is the only comparison I am seeing. Also Eric Daze.

After reading a little bit about him I kind of like the pick. A tall center with good puck skills and can generate offense with teammates and by himself is something we need in the future. He could be a good compliment with Sven. Although it will probably 2 years to see how he does in the NHL.

Weisbrod is talking up the Flames pick, have you seen anything from any draft rankings that suggests he was in the top 55?

Do you really believe that the Flames would have taken him where they did if they believed they could get him with their newly acquired 2nd round pick?

Weisbrod said that they had someone watching every game he played after January, so I assume there were probably other teams with scouts at those games too. That's probably how they know who else had him on their lists.
I liked hearing Weisbrod talking about how he was cursing Button for making him drive through the snow to watch Jankowski play and by the end of the first period, he was in his seat laughing to himself, then he called Feaster telling him they had their first round pick.

Bob McKenzie's rankings had him at 41. And he claims to survey/poll 10 nhl scouts for those rankings

He's the youngest player in the draft. It's not like he's 19 and just came out of nowhere...

I love Feaster's comments about how his scout drove through a blizzard to see this guy and said....yeah he is a can't miss. Ofcourse he's can't miss, the kid was playing high school hockey with kids who were cut from everywhere else....lets hope the scouting team doesn't watch any summer beer league hockey cause half of my team will be getting contract offers on July 1, cause they are lighting up a 55 year old out of shape goalie. Can't miss!

This sounds like a pitch to me. You ask another org about a player and they get wind of your interest and they can just blow smoke up your ass. There's no way they can know this.
