Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2016 - Round 32

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. almost like Shark Week on the Discovery Channel Calgarypuck and the Summer Prospect Ranking has become an institution for rabid Calgary hockey fans.

2013 - Sean Monahan is the top prospect (2013)

2014 - Johnny Gaudreau takes his turn (2014)

2015 - Sam Bennett come on down! (2015)

The last three years have had a prospect named first, and then make an impact right away on the NHL team. Bennett had to have surgery and mop up the OHL first, but all three were big players for the Flames right away.

Will that be the case again this year?

As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.

Happy voting!

Bruce - the only one left with maybe a future and gets my vote. He's also a good scraper.

Morrison - showed little in Stockton

Kanzig - needed to go back to junior for his overage year, I doubt he ever develops beyond ECHL caliber

Karnaukhov - hasn't shown much and has gone back to Europe showing he knows he won't make the NHL

Harrison - had one good camp where he hit everything that moved but has done nothing since. Won't get a contract.

Rafikov - probably will never leave Russia

I'm not even really a fan of Karnaukhov, but this little blurb you've written about him is ridiculous and just makes you sound clueless.

I'm pretty sure we can stop now. This is like voting for your school board representative. It goes MP --> MLA --> Municipal leader --> Who cares .

Still voting Rafikov. Though my viewings of him were very limited, he has always impressed me. May never come over, but I do think he has lots of potential.

Feel free to stop voting then. It's summer and there's not a ton of news right now. Some of us still enjoy it.

Morrison. Hasn't taken to the pro game but still, his promising college career still has to count for something, right? Maybe? Probably not. But still, voting him

Okay fair enough.

I have an extremely hard time believing that a 19 year old decided "oh I'm not good enough to ever play in the NHL, so I better go to Europe".

Is it not possible that he sees a better option for development in Europe? Maybe he was having issues with the Hitman coaches? Maybe he just wants to be closer to his family?

Agreed it's a long shot that he becomes a full time NHL player, but to assume he signed in Europe because he has given up is ridiculous.

There are tons of players who have had successful development in Europe.

First off I like to put out my take of things and to promote discussion, not to defend myself from jerk who turn it into a personal attack.

Well he hasn't shown much, and since you're not much of a fan of his, you agree.

He wasn't able to standout in junior, so his chances to be able to move up look pretty slim. His going home tells me he recognizes this and decided on a different path.

You tell me how many Europeans come over here and go back, that make it. It's very few unless they are star players. I look at our own Tim Ramholt as an example of a player that didn't stick with junior and went off on his on path.

Alright enough with the name calling.

I just think it's silly that you're making baseless assumptions. You have no idea what his decision was based on.

I highly a doubt a kid who was drafted as early as last year has given up on playing in the NHL because he has one tough season

Sure maybe he's homesick or needs the money but IMO he's jettisoned his possible NHL career and if his agent hasn't discussed this with him, he's a poor agent. So thinking that it's been discussed, I'm assuming he's decided to drop his NHL dream.

Which a silly assumption in my opinion.

Oh well agree to disagree I guess!
