Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2016 - Round 24

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. almost like Shark Week on the Discovery Channel Calgarypuck and the Summer Prospect Ranking has become an institution for rabid Calgary hockey fans.

2013 - Sean Monahan is the top prospect (2013)

2014 - Johnny Gaudreau takes his turn (2014)

2015 - Sam Bennett come on down! (2015)

The last three years have had a prospect named first, and then make an impact right away on the NHL team. Bennett had to have surgery and mop up the OHL first, but all three were big players for the Flames right away.

Will that be the case again this year?

As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.

Happy voting!

Lindstrom for sure. Good numbers last year(40gp-14g-30a-44p). Seems like he was a leader on ice too. Even had 10 points (5g-5a) in six games in the post season leading his team.

Needs some muscle mass though.

Mattson was a guy I wanted with our Florida 2nd rounder in this year's draft. While he seems like a bigger project than I anticipated, there is still a high ceiling there, probably the last player left with any real potential.

It's between Lindstrom, Smith, and Hamilton for me. Very different upsides and skill sets, but all roughly of similar prospect grade.

I'm really hoping for a big year from Smith for the heat this year. I think he can be just a bit better than your average plug.

Rafikov.

Kid is quietly progressing well.

After a fantastic junior career including wearing a letter for the Russian national team, he went on last year to a dominant season in the VHL, and this season he stepped up to a full-time spot in the KHL.

Didn't put up flashy numbers, but he's playing in the 2nd best league in the world and still on an upward trajectory.

Although there are serious questions about him ever coming over to North America, I think he has the most upside of anybody left on the list.

I simply cannot vote for Smith, at least not for a while yet. I don't see much skill there. Mostly just size, which I don't think will be enough to get him a regular spot on an NHL club.

Been going with Hamilton for a few rounds now. I think he'd rank higher if he'd been drafted by the Flames; we'd know more about his history. He's actually been a pretty consistent performer at all levels he's played.

Hamilton

Of all the remaining players, he's the only one I believe will play in the NHL.
