Default Summer 2015 Prospect Ranking - Round 29

it's time.

Calgarypuck's 3rd annual Prospect Ranking Poll!

Going with the 25 and under with 65 or less games played at the NHL level which actually works pretty closely with my own rule of thumb of "anyone not too old that hasn't been penciled in".

Therefore Granlund, Ortio and Ferland are still prospects.

Monahan and Gaudreau are young but clearly established and no longer prospects. Bennett may be penciled in but he's only played 12 NHL games and is a prospect.

Elson. The only guy left that has NHL potential (outside of Wolf and Billins who will likely spend the rest of their careers in Europe).

I will vote in round 30 and I will abstain after that.

How about a guy who has actually played 25 NHL games?
Derek Grant may become a career AHLer, but that's more than you can expect at this point.

He played most of that on a bad Senators team in 13/14 and his career high is 38 points in the AHL at age 25. He's depth for this year, nothing more.

agree with above, but are you expecting more from any of these guys?
His AHL stats and age are about the same as Hathaway.

Expecting? I don't think anyone expects anything from the remaining guys.

However, my vote goes to guys who I still think COULD if things go right actually become NHL'ers.

I do think Elson will probably become an AHL vet with occasional call-ups, but who knows? May become the next Scott Nichols, right?

Deblouw for me is next, as this kid seems to love playing big important games. Kid seems clutch, is great defensively, and is good on the draw. Yelle is who he seems to modelling himself after. Can he get there? Doubtful, but at this stage in his development, not impossible.

Grant doesn't get my vote yet - possibly after the above 2 prospects if I really think about it - but Elson and Deblouw both have some NHL potential (IMO), and I will vote accordingly.

He's my next choice. I liked him when he played a few Flames games. He wasn't intimidated by the NHL but he needs to show more in Stockton.

Elson should have gone about 3-5 places higher. What a pleasant problem to have.
