Phillips
then
Pospisil
I just can't vote for Parsons after his past 2 seasons. Nick Schneider out performed him in the AHL last year.

This might be the first run-off.
Phillips vs. Parsons?

Yeah, this just about sums it up for me. Parsons hasn't performed nearly well enough to warrant a high ranking.

Parsons for me. He’s a legit goaltending prospect and has just as much chance as anyone left on the board to make the NHL, despite the fact that goalies are voodoo.
Others that are close to this spot are Phillips, Pospisil, Koumontzis, Zavgorodniy (little Z), and even Svenningson.

Parsons for the 3rd time ... perhaps I get to be ‘right’ this time

Pretty cool to see a 2018 draft pick make the top five when the team went into the draft with no picks in the first 100 or so draft slots; that's a good sign.
Clearly the caveat no this is the subjectivity of the team ... being 5 on a terrible list means nothing. In this case though there are still a half dozen interesting players to come.

People keep saying stuff like this. What are you basing this on? He was great in junior, but he’s been terrible since turning pro. He hasn’t even been able to hold an AHL back up position yet.
The new Russian goalie has a better chance of being the first callup at this point.

It's not about being individually right. It is about being collectively right. "Wisdom of crowds" would indicate that all of us—CP as a whole entity—knows better than any one individual poster. Your "right" or "wrong" response contributes to that outcome.

Phillips for me. I like Parsons but too early for me to vote for him after the season he's had, even if it was injuries, luck and a crappy defence

Parsons for me in this round. I think he has the highest ceiling in the entire group left. He didn’t have the best season last year, but goalies tend to take longer.

I certainly respect that opinion for sure.
Goalies are so tough to chart, we just don't have any idea.
I land on the side of the pedigree. Nobody straight lines to stardom, there are always bumps in the road. Given his mental battle and coming out with it at a young age he looks to have tackled it at a very young age. This year at camp he said he hasn't felt better since turning pro.
But really ... Memorial Cup, World Junior Gold playing huge roles. A follow up season where he single handedly won a OHL playoff series suggests lots of potential is there.
And to me that's the point.

Went Phillips. Could see the argument for Pospisil, Koumontzis, Parsons, Little Z, Sveningsson and Nikolaev. Seems like this group along with MEP is that secondary tier

Voting Nikolaev here on out until he goes off the board.
Probably the 2nd best center prospect in the system behind only Dube. He was the top line C for the national Russian teams this past year and already has his 200ft game rounded nicely. Yes he is two years away at minimum but I don't think he's going to need seasoning once he jumps over. Definitely a top ten prospect in this system, I have him over Pospisil, Phillips and the Swedes.
Im going to be following him closely this year in the hopes of seeing his offensive game evolve.

Going with Marty Pospisil here. This guy is absolutely gonna be an NHLer IMO.

He's had multiple good years at different levels in Russia. I doubt he agreed to a contract to come over to North America unless the Flames gave him some reason to think he has a chance to make the NHL. He's certainly not coming over to play in the ECHL, so I assume the Flames see him as at least fighting for the starting job in the AHL. Gillies can't go to the ECHL, as he's on a one way NHL contract, so I'm not sure where that even leaves Parsons. If the Flames were as high on Parsons as CP is, I don't know why they sign Zagidulin in the first place.
Unless the Flames plan to buyout Gillies and run Stockton with Zagidulin and Parsons. Nick Schneider is also under contract and put up good AHL numbers last year. Seems like there are too many goalies in the organization. Something has to give.

First, let me preface this with saying I hope for nothing but the best for Tyler Parsons. If he can become an NHL player for the Flames, that would be amazing.
That said, I unfortunately have a lot of experience with mental illness in my family, and I don't think it's something you tackle and move on from. It's something Parsons will deal with for his entire life. Becoming an NHL goalie is already a near impossible task, and now he also has whatever his mental illness is to deal with. It's just another huge hurtle thrown in his path. Stress is a huge trigger for bad episodes, at least for my family members, and what is more stressful than being a professional goalie, under scrutiny all the time?
Hopefully Parsons can prove me completely wrong. But for the purpose of this ranking exorcise I think he's going to be way too high on the list.
