Valimaki, AINEC. The most sought after prospect by other teams, and the one that Treliving is most stubborn to hold on to. Future top 4 defender at the very least. Extremely smart and talented, and mature beyond his years. I hope he cements his spot in the NHL this year.

Will this be the first year we have had a repeat first-place winner? It is looking that way.

Only because Valimaki had a severe injury and missed much of the year resulting in him needing to go to the AHL to get back on track. He would have easily exceeded graduation criteria had he remained healthy. Stone was gone for so long that it would have been Valimaki’s spot to lose.

Voted Dube but didn’t do a good job of scanning the list and would have picked Valimaki

Dube hasn't outpaced Kylington in my opinion. My 2nd place vote is going to the Swede.

Yay! It's back. I can finally move past last season's disappointing end and start getting excited again for the future.

Also back my annual Prospect Awards:

The Gaudreau Award for me thinking little of them when drafted/signed but now excited about the possibilities - Mathias Emilio Pettersen
(previous winners Zavgorodniy, Rittich, Ollas Mattsson, Culkin & Gaudreau)

The Tkaczuk (note spelling) Award for the player with the most disappointing season - Spencer Foo
(previous winners Daniel Přibyl & Greg Nemiscz (so many times)

The Chucko Award for biggest dropper on my list - Spencer Foo
(previous winners Shinkaruk, Pollock, Culkin, Granlund & Reinhart)

The Jooris Award for biggest riser on my list - Glenn Gawdin
(previous winners Růžička, Rittich, Hathaway, Kulak & Jooris)

The Nemiscz Award for the prospect I'm most worried about - Andrew Nielsen
(previous winners Shinkaruk, McDonald, Shore & Ferland)

The Jankowski Award for best long-term project - Ilya Nikolaev
(previous winners Tuulola, Růžička, Fox & Jankowski)

The Seiloff Award or the "try not to get hurt this year OK buddy?" award - Tyler Parsons
(previous winners Přibyl, Culkin, & Seiloff)

The Eat Bread Award for best name - Eetu Tuulola
(previous winners Demetrious Koumontzis, D'Artagan Joly, E2 Tuulola, Mangiapane)

The Deblouw Award or the "You're still a Flames prospect? Forgot you existed." award - Mitchell Mattson
(previous winners Harrison & Deblouw)

The good news is we'll finally have a definitive list of people who like to respond before they read all the options.

I like to think that haiku voted for Eetu Tuulola because his name has five syllables...

It is a pretty good sign to me that we’ll have to get the 4th round before we get to non-NHL ready prospects. It is still very easy to miss on players at 16th overall, 56th overall and 60th overall. Add in a couple late round gems and the prospect system is not nearly as bad as it should be for a team that hasn’t had many high picks recently.

The only major concern for me is the Flames have still struggled to develop a drafted goalie. The drafted goalie graveyard continues to grow. I’m hoping for the best, but it is possible both Parsons and Gillies follow McDonald out of the organization next year if they don’t show definite signs of improvement.

Pretty easy first round, like most years. Round 2 will be more interesting.

Gillies is reaching decision age, but unless he completely comes off the rails Parsons is way too young to move on from.

Was curious so I went back and looked. The Monahan year he won with only 45% of the vote! https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=129540

Bennett had the biggest landslide victory at 96% of the vote. Valimaki probably comes close this year.

I am going to get way ahead of myself and say the top ten should be:
  1. Valimaki
  2. Pelletier
  3. Kylington
  4. Dube
  5. Sveningsson
  6. Phillips
  7. Parsons
  8. Tuulola
  9. Emilio Pettersen
  10. Nikolaev

That said, things get difficult to sort out after the top 4. Emilio Pettersen and Nikolaev are so low because it will take a few years before they are N/A pros. Parsons is so high because his success would be so important to the club.

Are you ranking Pelletier above the other two because of his draft position? I ask because he's not having the strongest camp (understandable at his tender age), and the other two have already proven they can play at an NHL level (and both would be first rounders in a redraft IMO).
