Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2017 - Round Final Round

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Calgarypuck's 5th Annual Prospect Ranking Poll Series

Here are the last 5 years for a quick glance ...
Prospect Rankings
2013 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ospect+Ranking
2014 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...highlight=poll

Happy voting!

Who will join Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk as the top prospect. Previous four have gone straight to the show.

Rafikov I guess. I don't like our chances of bringing either guy over, but I think he has the higher upside.

How much higher would these guys be if they were in North America working their way up?

Went with the less Rushan sounding name

Pavel has more chance of choosing to play in NA and is younger.

Just wanted to say thanks to Bingo. I always look forward to these in the dog days of summer. Keep on being awesome

Went with Pavel. No real reason other than he played in NA

It's so hard to know where these guys would rank if they were over in NA, but I'd guess they'd be around the number 25 mark. Who knows.

After thinking some more on it, I'd have Karnaukhov at 20 right before Tuulola and Rafikov at 24 just before Healey.

There is an argument for them to go a few spots higher but they belong no lower than those two guys.

At least there is some evidence that Karnaukhov knows where Calgary is. The same can't be said for Rafikov.

Man... been voting Rafikov for awhile now due to stubbornness to change after I incorrectly selected him earlier. Guy can't buy a win

Went with Rafikov , he was thought of quite highly until he started missing the summer camps for one excuse or another.

Probably 10-15 spots each, if not higher. It's not their talent I take issue with, it's their commitment to the team. It's basically non-existent. I like both players a fair amount, but the fact remains that they'll probably never play for any of the Flames affiliates, let alone the NHL team.

Anybody feel like any of these prospects are guaranteed busts? I can't say I feel that way about any of them.

The last non-Russian pick was Schneider, and I expect a big bounce-back season from him now that he is healthy.

Pollock is the guy I am the most 'down' on, and even then I can't say that you can completely write him off.

There are some definite long-shots to be sure, but this is a very deep prospect base. Lots of legitimate skill right down to the bottom. It is looking good.

As for the Russians - I prefer Rafikov. I do think that if he was ever to come over, he would quickly work his way up the depth chart. Great IQ, skating, puck-moving ability and plays with a bit of snarl too. It seems his development is going well in the VHL/KHL.

I don't think the Flames would have drafted or kept around guys that are guaranteed busts.

The forward - not sure where he would have ranked. He didn't exactly tear it up with Hitman.

To be fair, they signed him to an undeserved ELC and kept him around two years longer than they ever should have.
