Some posters simply refuse to accept what's happening before their eyes over the course of the playoffs. When I pick series winners I pick with my head not my heart. I picked Oilers in 5 because we had clear evidence of the Stars not exactly playing great hockey to get to the conference final and that they folded against the Oilers last season. That's not me patting myself on the back because the prediction was nearly as safe as predicting the Panthers eliminating the Hurricanes in short order.

That title will always belong to the Canucks.

The only silver lining I see with the oilers winning the cup is that someone won it after touching the Conference Champion Trophy.
It's such a dumb superstition IMO. Winning that trophy is so unbelievably hard to do and it should be celebrated. You just beat 3 of the best teams in the East/West, arguably the best teams in the league. Pop champagne. If you lose the SC it wasn't because you touched a trophy.

The sentiment behind not touch it was "That's not the trophy we're playing for, it doesn't mean anything to us right now". Somewhere along the way it became superstition, probably because the media tried to make a deal about who touched the conference trophy and then won the cup.

It's not like it hasn't happened before. Colorado and Washington did it and won. Tampa Bay did it twice. Crosby did it the three times he won.

I bashed him for saying it was over after 2 periods...I picked the Stars in 6 not a sweep. Lets see your perfect braket lol. Imagine cheering for the Oilers so you could say I told you so.

They were legit cheering for the Oilers so they could call us out lol. Saying a series is over after two periods is beyond stupid. I wouldn't do it the other way there are so many things that can happen in a playoff series.

I agree on the pfp but if we're talking hockey the point he presented is worth talking about. Our GM came out in a press conference and publicly said he wants to follow the model of a specific team. That team is a PR favourite, their GM wins manager of the year, is considered a draft wiz, they're given all the love for building a perfect team. And they've repeatedly proven to be inferior to the Oilers model who tanked their way into 4 first overalls.

It is a dumb superstition not to touch it.
Teams can win multiple trophies in a season, that is normal.

I wouldn't touch it, but not because I think touching it would be a jinx. I wouldn't touch it because it's not the trophy I'm trying to win.
