Love me some Looch, but not when it's eating up 5.25 that can be used on top talent.

Either way, I am very much for it.

Mangiapane-Kadri-Monahan
Pelletier-Backlund-Coleman
Lewis-Ruzicka-Rooney

If we traded Lucic and signed Kadri, I'd also like to see either:
Huberdeau-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Monahan-Kadri-Toffoli
Pelletier-Backlund-Coleman
Lewis-Ruzicka-Rooney
or
Huberdeau-Lindholm-Monahan
Mangiapane-Kadri-Toffoli
Pelletier-Backlund-Coleman
Lewis-Ruzicka-Rooney
I think the lines you have are good, but I really like Monahan on LW because he seems to naturally gravitate to that side of the ice, and after watching Mangiapane's highlights, almost all of his goals and plays start and end on the right side. Mangiapane just seems to play his best game on the right side. I like all three of Monahan, Toffoli, and Mangiapane as the top line RW with Eat Bread as my favorite option.

So if I'm jumping to conclusions
- Flames ready to sign Kadri, need cap space
- Lucic has NTC, can't deal him direct to Arizona or other bottom feeders
- Lucic willing to go to Boston, Boston wiling to make deal, but can't be for no cap coming back
- Flames trade to Boston for equal cap in player or players that can be traded anywhere, even if for no return
- Cap space open, Kadri signs in Calgary

I wonder if Debrusk & Valimaki would be involved as a change of scenery for both

That doesn't mean they don't want to save cash. A team could acquire Looch, buy him out and then trade a player and their cap hit. Boom. They save $4 million dollars and potentially acquire a draft pick.

Yeah, just putting the pieces together, I'm willing to bet this is how it goes down. Brad would have made the trade with Arizona or anyone else (and it would have likely been done awhile ago), but Lucic probably held firm on not going to certain teams, forcing Brad to reach out to somewhere he prefers.
But....he wants to add a top six scorer like Kadri, so he's not going to grab Bostons cap problem player for ours and call it a day, he's likely negotiating for a similar cap hit player without a no trade clause and will flip that guy very quickly to anyone who will take them.
My bet is Calgary ends up including a 3-5th round pick to get an easily trade-able player back at a similar cap hit.

But I have no interest in DeBrusk just base on he is LW and he really doesn't address the team's need.

That would be quite the series of moves.
Treliving would potentially lock up Best GM before the season even starts.
Capturing the imagination of the sporting world every weekend must give one quite the rush.

Wasn't the Lucic thing a joke on twitter when the Bruins signed Bergeron and Krejci saying 'Let's get the band back together'.

Honestly it does feel like a joke. Tim Thomas coming back as well?

I'm not saying he's got something with Calgary or the Flames. I'm just saying he didn't want to be a Flames. Why would you want a player that doesn't want to be here in the first place? If Kadri wanted to be part of the Flames, he would've been here a few years ago.

Circumstances change. He wanted to prove himself in Toronto still. Context is important.

It's just not that cut and dry. Kadri said it wasn't about not wanting to be in Calgary but that it was about staying in Toronto.

He deliberately ran Binnington in the playoffs. I think the Blues had a pretty good chance of beating the Avs if Binnington wasn't hurt. Still think he's a dirty player on the ice and a liability that could lead to suspensions.

I haven't read all nine pages, so apologies if this has already been shot down.
What about trading Lucic to Boston for futures and he retires as a Bruin? He got his bonus already and will only make 1 mil additionally this season. Flames get the salary off the books, Bruins not on the hook for his salary either. Any definitive word that Lucic wants to play this season?
