Things are looking great right now. I do share the concerns about the length and age. The roster got older this offseason.
How many of you celebrating were in the Trades thread saying "no I don't want Kadri" just the past week for the same arguments you're all dogpiling Ashasx/Sec214 for now. Not everyone here wanted this to happen!
Some of that will be offset by Pelletier entering the fold.
That is an INSANE price. Awesome signing. Especially given that the chips were all pushed into the center on Huberdeau...

Not too excited about this signing, sorry to be ‘that’ guy. I always hated Kadri as a player. Had a feeling that Treliving was going after him and that it would be a huge contract. He’s worse in everything that was bad about Tkachyk and less than Tkachuk in actual hockey talent. I guess this should make the team meaner and tougher to play against but still; I find it hard to cheer for this guy.

I always disliked Kadri for the same reasons other teams disliked Tkachuk. I guess its a good pickup. We need an agitator. I think the Flames are stronger today than when the season ended

I agree yet am still excited. All offseason I was thinking "God don't let us be stuck with Kadri for 7 years"
But then I realized - This is our window. This was the best player available to help us win.
So much can change in 3 years - Look at this team 3 years ago.
I'll worry about year 4 of the deal in 4 years.

I'd agree, but I said the same thing about Looch when he came here. Big S-disturber, d-bag of a player (when you're against him). I'm hoping my perspective changes just like it did with Looch, who is now a Calgary fan favorite.....which coming from a former Coiler, is a huge win.
Funny people see 7x7 and think worst contract in Flames history.
I just wake up and I’m like LETS ####ING GO! (not McDavid like).
Maybe 2 years too long but Jesus it’s not a given he’ll be useless.
7m for a 80-100 point #### disturbing 2nd line centre…sounds fair to me.
It’s clearly a win now move and a good one at that.
We lose our two best players and get better! Has that even happened before!?!

Just embrace the hate. Besides with Kadri on the Flames there is less chance he would injure Markstrom.

Are you kidding? Who the hell would have hated Lucic when he became a Flame? We were butter soft and one of the weakest teams in NHL history.
Add to the fact that we got rid of that diving piece of crap James Neal for him.

I'm sad.. now we have 2 players whose contracts don't end till they are 38-39.. who plays to 38-39 in the NHL anymore? These long term contracts are going to kill the Flames.
You know, I can't help but feel like the Flames should've just jettisoned their core and played wretched, awful hockey for the next 5 - 10 years, securing #1 pick after #1 pick but never advancing too far, hopes built up and then crashing again and again, burning through coaches and GMs like gas-soaked kindling.
