Wow.
Weegar solidies the Flames at D and makes it deeper.
Kadri solidifies the Flames at C and makes it deeper.
Incredible work by Treliving this off season.
Obviously long term pain more than likely, but why worry about that as a fan?
Just enjoy it, the team is going for it so have some fun.

The Flames team next season is entirely different. Crazy thing you rarely see in any professional team sport, especially when not in a rebuild situation.

Baseball bores me and I hate Toronto, but I keep thinking of those Blue Jays too. 1992, won the World Series, team gutted by free agency. Retooled on the fly, 11 new roster players in 1993, won the World Series again.
Obviously you can't compare playoff results, but the sheer magnitude of change is similar.
Oh, and by the way, this signing is an obvious mistake that will haunt the Flames franchise forever. 'Cos when they win the Stanley Cup, a certain player's name will be engraved as ‘Nazzeem Kardi’. We will never live that down. Fire Treliving!

Things are looking great right now. I do share the concerns about the length and age. The roster got older this offseason.
How many of you celebrating were in the Trades thread saying "no I don't want Kadri" just the past week for the same arguments you're all dogpiling Ashasx/Sec214 for now. Not everyone here wanted this to happen!

Thought about making this a different rumour thread, but just heard second hand via someone listening to the radio, plus its Derek Wills, but he apparently said its very likely that the flames aren't done, and that there will be another trade to come? Referenced a defenseman for another top-6 type forward?
Did anyone hear this as well? Or is just my older dad meaning well, but...likely not hearing correctly?

It's the perpetual double standards they have. Their top year players they paid too much for (looking at you, Nurse!) are just beginning and will never regress! But the flames players who have a breakout year were lucky or it's unsustainable and they will be washed out of the league next year.
The day after the playoffs, all they could talk about is how useless our core was and that we would never get better and that those guys probably aren't top players in the league. Once they were going to became ex-flames, they are top tier players and the flames could never replicate their production.
Then we get the Tkachuk trade and it's all "good luck signing Huby, he's going to walk and you got nothing." Then we sign him and it's "He had one good season and his contract will be a boat anchor before next season starts."
They thought Kadri to the isles was a done deal so it was them laughing that the Flames cannot attract top talent. I even saw a few posts in HFoil about magic sign and trade with double retention that put Kadri in edmonton among with all their other magical double retention trade deals they propose up their. Then he signs and it's just like Huberdeau, with claims that he will never have success here and he isn't that good anyways.
Fun fact, was browsing through their forums today and they are not worried about Mackinnon's contract influencing DrySaddle's next contract because a: He will take a paycut to help the oilers win a cup so it won't matter what Nate gets, and b: Mackinnon might even tell Colorado to get stuffed and take a lower deal in Edmonton because now that he has a cup, he will want to play with McDavid.
They are, and forever will be, No Good.

Well apparently Ryan Leslie on 960 earlier said that Treliving has a few players still on his radar.

If Bergeron didn’t re-sign I would’ve speculated about Pastrnak to Calgary but that’s not happening now.

If Kadri only injures 1 goalie during the playoffs it's totally worth it!

But I really, really want someone to draw up an incredibly convoluted yet somehow plausible way it could happen.
Please?

I was wondering also. I have seen some rumblings of hanifin to NYI in comments sections but not referenced anywhere else..

I just got home from golf and I find this???
Treliving already has GM of the year award locked up. To replace a good portion of the core without a rebuild is short of a miracle. IMO we are a much better team with Kadri and Hubi in our lineup. A gifted playmaker who has size and a gritty playmaker who can get underplayers skins and score at the same time. Wow!

And yet when TSN and SN do their season preview picks you know they are going to pick the No Goods to win the Pacific because McDavid.
