Agree, and further to that what was "Gully" response to the boat anchor assistant captain Brouwer give him another promotion as Froliks recent replacement since he has been injured. Yes laughable Brouwer received the bump up the roster the increase of ice time. Just another "Gully" lack of accountability decision.
But it worked, so maybe you're not infallible like the rest of us. Maybe enjoy that the team played great? Or do your thing. Either way.
Seemed staged to me, and very out of character. GG strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn't know how to get mad, seems forced. I laughed! Not sure it'll be effective.
Might be staged but I am sure a lot of coaches rants are staged no? A staged rant trumps a loose cannon!! Might be a little late but I think he finally gets that he needs to call out his so called leaders to take charge and show some accountability.
It might not have been staged but could GG have anticipated that his group would respond after a big win with a poor practice? If they have historically done that - sure.
And could he have identified that if they did - he would lose it? Sure.
But he could have also just lost his cool in the moment.
I think the bigger topic here is the possible flaws in the make-up of this team. Do they want it bad enough? Are they willing to put in the work on a consistent basis?
I continue to worry that the overall personality of the team is too passive, too casual. Need more guys that HATE to lose like Tkachuk and Smith. I suspect that those are two guys that practice like they play.

Glad this happened and hope it leads to some better effort from these guys.....I think they are way better than they are playing.

If the team was dogging it during the practice, I like Gulutzan stopping the practice, I like him lining them up on the boards, and I like the impassioned dressing down. However, IMO the two-handed hurling of the stick into the stands takes it from coach ripping his team to coach having a temper tantrum.
The latter is a lot less effective, IMO, and can actually lose someone credibility. Not sure how the Flames dressing room will take it.
