Yeah not sure it's a great idea to grab him, do we really want to pay that much to two wingers in huby and now Robertson? How well did that work out for Toronto, if your moving huby, all for it, having said that our d core would suck, seems like a lateral move at best

Where is this bad in the playoffs coming from? He had a rough playoff this past season but he was coming off an injury. Check his playoff stats the previous 2 seasons.

Yes and it makes sense and is a fun thought exercise.
The Flames are not going to walk away from the other trade offers that include young Cs with potential to get a winger. Look at the replies to Diss' suggestion: "The Flames wouldn't do it so no one would" or "Andersson is spare parts and has no value". Garbage.
Think about some facts:
1) Andersson is a great D and the Flames are in a unique position with his contract and a sellers market where there are almost no alternatives
2) In a bidding war, the Flames are not going to settle for whatever the Stars have to offer. Conroy hangs up on offers for Andersson that do not meet his price (young C with #1C potential)
So now the question becomes, how does the Stars stay in this conversation? They are super "Win-Now" and Conroy is hanging up on Nill if the offer is Robertson. Sillinger and 14OA looks better to the Flames than a Robertson deal.
How badly does Dallas want to upgrade on Dumba as their #1RD??
Also, Bourque's recent contract makes a bit more sense if Johnston is available to trade. The only way Bourque is going to get more ice time and a bigger contract with the Stars is if they move a C out.

I mean we have the space. The only way I can see us getting Robertson in a trade for Anderson is if we take dumba as well.

If this was reversed, no chance the Flames who make this deal,
My guess, when the trade occurs, its likely similar to Lindholm.

Sure, but there’s no points for realism awarded.
Dallas is looking at Marner, their window (with the majority of their contracts) is right now. They’re a contender. They need $12M in cap space (let’s say).
Give them a 2/3 prime-aged D who improves their backend right NOW at 50% (about 2M).
We also take on a cap dump, say Dumba at 3M + whatever.
In return, we get a second line center who MAYBE could be 1st line, fits our window better than he fits theirs, and gives them a total cap savings of around 10-12M.
Really we’re giving them a gift here. They should say thank you.
Maybe if they want to take on extra cap they can have Zary.
Andersson/Zary/Marner for Johnston/Dumba? Preeeeetty good. You’re welcome Dallas.

I mean this guy is STILL putting up 0.5 PPG in 2205!
I’m all in for that kind of longevity!

That's a pretty weak take.
Does every rumoured trade have to actually happen to mean there was in fact an actual rumour?
Just sort it ... we all do.
Wyatt Johnson isn't a rumour it's a wish.
Robertson on the block is a clear rumour.
Dallas wanting Andersson is a clear rumour.

The issue is that Conroy needs an offer with a young center with potential #1C upside. I like the 14th and Sillinger idea but he doesn’t have #1C upside. In this made up scenario do you take Robertson over a center with #2C upside? I would.

And Johnston is speculation on what it would take to land Andersson at 50%.

I’ll disagree to disagree on that one. To me a rumour is Dobson to Montreal or Columbus. I’m not slagging on people for speculating on connecting the Robertson and Andersson rumours then that is speculation. Which is why I was asking.

What is with all this revisionist history? People saying Robertson could potentially become Huberdeau for Tkatchuk v2. If anything, Robertson might be a closer comparable to Tkatchuk in that trade. A not so great skater that may never hit another 100pt season, but also just hitting their primes in their mid twenties.

I bet a lot of these rumors are true. It just doesn't end up being the winning offer, or its just dialogue in the process. I can ask for Johnston or Robertson, and Dallas can think about it for a few days. I can tell someone, then they can come back and say no they aren't interested in moving him etc. Doesn't make it not true.

Of course he’d be the Tkachuk in that scenario. Are the Flames ready to play the role of the Panthers?
