I believe he was chirping with Mats Zuccarello (Norwegian, but speaks Swedish), a longtime nemesis.

The Andersson trade has been “imminent” for like a year and a half now.
I’ll celebrate once it actually happens, and the Flames actually get a worthwhile asset in return.
But regardless, yes, thanks Rasmus Andersson, you’ve done a great job as a Calgary Flame, I loved watching you play, and I wish you nothing but success (unless you’re playing for the Oilers) in your NHL career and in life.

Ras was a great Flame. A few points to remember:
1. He has earned the right to be a UFA and make the best choice for his family. He doesn’t have to accept being rushed into a deal with a team not of his choosing.
2. He didn’t ask to be traded.
That is all.

This sounds way too free market economics for this site.

Thanks Rasmus. One of my fave players ever. Will never forget the goal on Mike Smith from our own end. Now I need to get a new Jersey.

3. He could have signed an extension to help the team out a little, which wouldn't have impacted him at all with the understanding that the Flames would trade him to a team he agreed to. He'd still be looking out for himself.
He just completely screwed the team over for a team he's going to sign an extension with.
I'm not thanking him for anything. Good riddance.

Players don’t just sign extensions to “help out” the team that decided to trade you. That’s just silly.

Ridiculous ask for a person. Sign somewhere for eight years where you don’t want to live so Calgary can get a better trade return. If the Flames didn’t want a rental return then they should have traded him before this year.

I would never expect him to sign an extension in a place he doesn't want to live in. He's going to sign an extension in the exact place he was traded, likely right away. Maybe letting it leak that he only wanted to sign in Las Vegas wasn't the greatest either. How did that information affect what was out there for offers?
Of course the Flames should have traded him the minute he told them he's not going to sign here, and I'm sure that they did see what was out there for offers.
I'm certainly not going to thank him for anything.
I hope Boston wins the cup vs Vegas this year.

Now that his time with the Flames is done. I hope that everyone realizes that Rasmus Andersson was ALWAYS only about Rasmus Andersson first. I was surprised to hear that he was entertaining extending with the Bruins because I was told in a very clear way that was not the first choice at all. I reported exactly that to this site. At the end of the day, his true nature came to the forefront again and proved exactly what I already know about the player and person-- it's business baby-- it's him first.
Fat kid proved everyone wrong. He's always had a chip on his shoulder. If you were in his shoes, you'd probably be the same. He thinks he's the greatest thing ever. Perhaps that's why he's defied the odds in the first place. Good luck to him in his career. Hope he rakes.

As I said in another post, when he talked about wanting what was best for his family, it's clear to me that he was talking about MONEY. A guy on an NHL salary can find good schools and a nice neighbourhood in any city in the league.
If he was asking $9.5 million to re-up with Boston, my guess is he'll want no less than 8.5 from Vegas because of the tax difference – and he will want a full NTC to ensure that he doesn't lose any of that money by being traded to a high-tax market.

Oh, I don't. If Vegas is going to make the finals at all, I want them to win so the Flames get a 1st out of them instead of a 2nd.

Like with Hanifin, it was too much to ask to do the team a real solid by opening up the field a bit and making that extension work where a strong return could've been had.
it was still a passable return all things considered. But with the extension, it could have been even better.
i won't knock the player because in this day and age with a young family, being especially cautious about where you commit the next 8 years of your life is only natural.
But I also won't be gushing about Rasmus the Flame either. Most guys are about themselves, first and foremost, and he's no exception. That's fine, but he bumped himself below Backlund's tier with his final move.

Andersson was a beaut during his years here. One of the top 10 D to ever play for the team. Thanks for the great years of entertainment! I don't begrudge someone trying to get paid max value.
I can never cheer for someone while they wear a Vegas uniform though, so please sign in the East on July 1.

Let's be honest, if a player puts the needs of the team he is leaving before his own interests he is an idiot.
