Thank You Rasmus Andersson
With the writing on the wall regarding Andersson’s departure, I thought it'd be good to start an appreciation thread for everything he’s given to the Calgary Flames.
Seriously, what an incredible draft pick for the Calgary Flames in the 2nd round, #53 overall.
It has been a pleasure to watch Andersson grow into to a pretty dynamite top defenseman for the Flames, and then to see how quickly became a leader on this team. No surprise when you see the way he carries himself, to his awesome personality. If not for our current situation, I would've loved to have this guy as a lifelong Flame.
We'll miss him for sure, not only on the ice, but off it too.
All the best Ras, and thank you!

Dude was found money. Turned out to be an amazing flame filled with character. You'll be missed by us Flames fans. And I'm 100 percent certain you'll get the ovation you deserve when you come back with your new team.
All the best Rasmus, I'll be cheering for you.

Hell yeah heck yeah Rasmus Andersson. Probably one of if not the most graceful exits from an organization I’ve seen in professional sports.
Said he wanted to give everything right up until the last moment he had the sweater on, and he has.
Will also say kudos to Conroy, even without knowing the return, he’s managed this well.
I remember back when we drafted Raz and I think they traded a few picks to grab 60th OA and also take Kylington. I was higher on Kylington, and from a raw skill perspective Kylington should have been better than Raz, but Raz’s work ethic and dedication took him to another level.
Great Flame, and by all accounts great man.
Go get that Stanley Cup Raz. I’ll be cheering for you.

Dude is awesome. Hope he gets a cup one way or another and that his utter hatred of the Oilers keeps burning strong.

I know it's for the better of all, but stil a tough pill to swallow. He was my favorite Flame due largely in part to the grit and constant intensity. He played with a fire that embodied what it meant to wear the Flaming C and his disdain for the Oilers was pure and so evident.
He often set the tone when things got flat, and never backed down no matter who was on the other side. That bite and refusal to be pushed around is rare and was exactly why he became a heartbeat player for this team.
He’s gonna be deeply missed and leave a void that stats can't capture. I'm not crying, you're crying!!

... Shouldn't we make this thread when the player actually gets traded?... just watch us re-sign him now.

I wouldn't say found money. We only feel that way because we traded every single second round pick, which us usually where you find these defencemen.

The opposite of when Evander Kane wrote a "Thank you Edmonton" letter only to re-sign with them a couple days later after discovering other teams weren't lining up to sign him.

One of my favs from the past 10 years. Assuming he does leave (along with Coleman), it sort of puts an end to what I call the 'Johnny Hockey' era of Flames lore (Yeah Backs is still here, but he ain't going anywhere). I hate playing the 'what could have been game' but man, we could have had something special with this team--that 21-22 team deserved better.
Anyway, funny thinking back to the origins of Ras and how we got him through the Bartschi trade, which at the time I was so upset over, lol. I also remember during the first (or maybe 2nd) rookie camp that Ras was here, he got called out by BT for being overweight and out of shape. Will miss him, and hope he goes on to have a great career.
