The problem is that you have to draw lines for who counts and who doesn't - arbitrary choices that result in some players falling through the cracks (like the list in this thread).

Nothing arbitrary about age - everyone is on the list.

What age you choose for the cutoff is arbitrary. The criteria for Calder eligibility are arbitrary.

The problem with the list we’ve been discussing is not that the criteria are arbitrary, but that they don’t apply the same criteria to every team. There are many valid ways to make a list like this, but you have to pick one and stick to it.

The age you choose is arbitrary, but consistent - no one fall through the cracks. Everyone counts, until they graduate by age.

Simple, clear, and consistent. Nothing else is as clean and consistent.

Anyway, enough of this.

That and the scoring system rewards AHL depth a lot. Two middle six winger projections are worth 40% more than Celebrini would be.

Interesting list but not how I would rank them at all. A true elite talent should be worth like 40 points on this scale.
Is that how the rankings work? At the beginning didn’t he say that not including Parekh dropped the Flames from 9th to 18th or something like that?
