My son is both ADD and on the spectrum, and this describes him perfectly. One of the things we had to learn well early on after he was diagnosed was how to help him manage his time and bring things into the "now" before they're actually "now"... still a work in progress
We're looking at support for his job hunt where they also help with helping him use tools to manage this for himself and other things to help with having a job which is new to him.

When my son was 8-12 we went through quite a few different meds trying different things.. we went through the same cycle of enormous hope and then not really seeing anything different quite a few times until we found the one that worked for him (Vyvanse as others have mentioned, and Intuniv though he eventually didn't need that anymore). So sometimes it is a process.
Hope you find something that helps improve things!!
