I'm worried what this means for Zary. More healthy scratches?
I don't think Zary has been good, whatsoever. But I am hoping we can develop him and he can get his confidence back.

Penalty kill specialist is the dumbest thing GMs go out of their way to look for. Play your best players whenever you can and your goal differential will improve

I don't see this being something that can be taken lightly.
We need possession of the damn puck badly . If he's winning at a 53 percent clip and can play a 200 ft game why not .
Scouting says he likes getting in the way of the goalie as a hard to move screen. F do we need that.
Well see how it goes I guess
|
I know how it will go. Keep this to yourself though.
He’ll get injected into the lineup. The team will still score 2 goals or less per game. They will lose 2/3s to 3/4 of the remaining games.

You can just take a look at all the numbers on NHL Edge
I think the more significant stat for last year was the amount of speed bursts over 20mph, in which Beecher with 172 is in the `91st percentile. Pospisil with 178 was in the 93rd percentile. In comparison, last year Coronato had 123 such speed bursts, Sharangovich 87, Coleman 80, Farabee 78, Kadri 71, and Huberdeau 43.
So essentially he plays, fast, and he plays fast consistently.

It's not like they traded for him. It's a free asset.

I mean Beecher has been absolutely buried in the defensive zone, his offensive zone start ratio since the start of last season has been 18.1%. Kerins in his 7 games for contrast has a an Offensive Zone start ratio of 66.7%.
If we are talking about 4th line role players Beecher is fine, it’s not like any of Kerins, Morton or Kirkland are blue chip prospects. I really don’t get the fuss, it really doesn’t matter who out of those 4 is the 4th line center, the results will be the same. We are talking about 4 players who are injury replacement level players. Beecher at least brings some qualities that are currently missing on this team.

I am not upset we got him, I just think it's pointless when we already have a collection of these spare part players. We already are scratching players like Coronato and Zary because we are too full, so why do we need another player taking up a roster spot?
I understand he plays the 4c role, but it is the same thing with Lomberg and us needing to play him on 4th line. Yes, he is fine but does he really need to play? Just my opinion.

I don’t know , there is plenty of room on the Flames for someone to step up, it’s not like he is going to steal a job from someone that’s is doing good
It costs nothing to try

Again, who are these other players that we have?
Coronato is a top 6 guy, and Beecher is never going to be in the top 6.
Zary shouldn't ever have been on the 4th line, and now that Beecher is here, he probably never will be again.

Jesus, Zary and Coronato being referred to as if they are similar players at all. Incredible.
