Disagree.

What it tells us is that we have zero center depth as i have said repeatedly.
Also seen a few mention more of the same? Huh? We dont have centers nevermind centers that are big because big equals good, that skate well and are better than 50% on face offs ?

Morton is not an nhl player, he is two years older than our acquisition.
Kerins is not an nhl player especially not bottom pairing.
Kirkland at the end of the day is not name brand.
Taco King probably a year in the A ( i had secret hopes he would make it)

Our fourth line has been a revolving door for years having a big smooth skating center who is good at face offs, and may still have a little more scoring potential as he is just entering his prime, was exactly what the doctor ordered. This was had for exactly zero dollars.

Smart move CC.

The undrafted, 26 year old Sam Morton that was never a point per game in the NCAA, even as a 23 year old, and who put up 45 pts in 70 games in the AHL as a 25 year old?

That Sam Morton?

We're talking about role players here, not guys that might be in the top 6 one day.

The one player I feel sad for is Taco Jr.

But so far, he appears not to be ready anyway. When he is, he now has to pass Beecher instead of Kirkland. And frankly, if he can't, then he isn't an NHLer.

Remember when people were mad that Huska played Zary at 4th line C?

So Conroy goes out and gets one, and people are outraged. I just don't get it - who else do you want at 4C? Morton? Sure. What's the difference?

What are we looking at there? What do all those numbers mean? Which are Beecher's and which are Pospisils?

click on it to open it up, and it will make more sense

Coles notes: Beecher is fast

Him and Pospisil on the 4th line might be really interesting

There is no difference. This is a nothing move. They need someone who can win faceoffs and get a free look at the guy. If they don't like what they see he goes back on waivers.
Literally any reaction to this is an over-reaction.

Have to click the picture to see the entire image

Beecher’s numbers are on the left. Shows that last season he had more speed bursts per 60 than Pospisil, though Pospisil had a higher recorded top-end speed

I guess we needed a centre-man. Not the one I expected though! Hahaha

Makes a little more sense but not entirelly.
So Beecher's max speed is 22.81 and Pospisil's is 24.06.
So that means he's slower than Posp, but not sure how it compares with other NHLers.

But what do the 1.22/0.64, 10.9/8.9 and 31.97/25.58 all mean?

Oh I think I get it, so Beecher averages 1.22 speed burst of 22+ MPH per 60, where as Posp averages 0.64 speed burst of 22+ MPH per 60.

So yeah it seems to suggest that Posp has a higher top gear, but Beecher is skating faster, more often, per 60.

That's right, Jiri. Pospisil has a higher top-end speed, but Beecher uses his speed more times per game. Both are useful attributes to have.

On a team that doesn't play with pace, Huska can now point at Beecher on the ice and say, ‘You want more minutes? Move your legs like he does. You don't have to be as fast as he is, but you have to be as fast as you can be.’

Top end speed is nice, but isn't the be all end all - acceleration is also important. Also, how much of the time are you playing at high speed?

Those stats show that Beecher has a lot of high speed bursts, which says he plays the game at a high tempo and high speed.

Amazing the complaining about a rebuilding team trying a freebie guy off waivers.

He is big and fast and if he doesn't work out who cares? I'd have to stretch super hard to find something to complain about this.

There are a few Flames who could follow this..but one can (sort of) understand in a season like this why they might not. Motivation is lacking in too many (young or old) too often.

And a young one too. You would think the guy is 30.

I must be a bad fan, but I'm actually really enjoying this season so far. Especially with seeing Parekh, Kuznetsov, Honzek, Kerins, and Gridin making things happen in the NHL. Wolf is still a lot of fun to watch, and Coronato is coming around. Cooley was also a fun surprise.

I don't think this team will lose many more games by replacing Kadri with Zary, Coleman with Stromgren/Pospisil, and Andresson with Brzustewicz. I mean, is there really that much of a difference between 3Ws in 20GP, and 5Ws in 20GP?

In this day and age of 2025 we're going to bitch and whine about everything! Because we want success and we want it now!! Also we dont want to have to work or suffer for it!!

Now...are we sharpening the pitchforks or what??

By his statistics Beecher is not an NHL player either. He has been a minus player every year he has played. If the doctor ordered another forward that can't score and bleeds goals I guess we got it.
