Tough challenge - Columbus looks visibly better this season. They are 7-5, and have scored 40 goals in those 12 games.
With that said, I hope the Flames win this. I always hate it when teams don't get the win to make these special nights more memorable. I hope Kadri gets a hat-trick along with the win tonight! Happy for him, and i hope the team really pulls out a win for him.

It's always nice to see a rookie get their 1st game of the season in. These are the types of things that keep interest and positivity going during rebuilds or rough patches.

I do wonder if, given the team's high probability of missing the playoffs this season, the organization has decided to keep Parekh to a maximum of 40 games so as to not bump up the date of his UFA status. Loan him out for the World Juniors and have him play 40 of 70 games while he is with the Flames.
There is also the question about whether Parekh is physically mature enough to handle an 82 game schedule. It may be advantageous to give him a bit more recovery time due to his ongoing physical development. Defensemen almost never make the NHL at his age, and I'm sure if the AHL was an option, he would be there instead of the main club this season.

Overall I've been happy with Huska as a coach.
I am not a fan of how they're handling certain young players, specifically Parehk in this case.
Why are we trying to get him playing low event hockey and sitting whenever a mistake occurs?

I'm going to the game tonight.
Meeting clients at Pat & Betty's before the game.
Any suggestions on 1 stop parking?

My view going into the season was that he'd likely play 60-65 games.
He's 19. Playing on the blueline.
And he hasn't been so great that scratching him is a criminal defense.
Are they developing him in the best possible way? No clue.
Are they developing him in the way that think is best? For sure in my mind.

Are they out of patience? I have mostly been seeing people suggesting playing the younger players like Parekh more and trading the vets.
I don't think anyone expects this team to make the playoffs.

That's a bold assumption on your part, he might be banged for all you know and the team aren't rushing him and giving him chance to heal up. Plenty of people moaned when Monahan was banged up and kept playing.

Hell, I would be afraid to do anything out there knowing that I am likely sitting again.
Regardless, I watch the games because I am a Flames fan, but it is definitely getting harder and harder to justify their decisions let alone watch the games for the most part this year.

We're talking about a rookie 19 year old playing in his first season. If this has his confidence shaken, then Parekh isn't ever going to make it in the NHL.

Trading vets takes patience to make the best deal...something you don't seem to understand
Wanting to fast forward the season a month in also shows a lack of patience...like I said last week its easy to enjoy Sharks highlights...paying to see them lose 10-0 to the Canucks and 18 straight games probably isn't the most fun.

He isn't banged up, stop. Like I said before, the hoops people will jump though for this coach....

Even if he isn't banged up there's nothing wrong with taking it easy on a guy who's never gone past 66 games in a season. Playing Kuznetsov and Parekh together would be problematic as well.
