Flames forward Nazem Kadri suits up for 1,000th NHL game on Wednesday night
On Wednesday night, Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri will play his 260th consecutive game for the club.
The clash with the Columbus Blue Jackets will also represent another big milestone: Kadri’s 1,000th career NHL game.
Brett Hull reflects on hilarious way the Calgary Flames treated him
“When I got called into the office by [Flames coach] Terry Crisp and he said, ‘Young man, we’ve made a trade.’ I looked at him and I said, ‘Just tell me it’s somewhere good.'”
Part of the reason Hull may not have been too disappointed to be traded from the Flames was due to his relationship with Crisp. Hull explained how the former bench boss once healthy scratched him less than 24 hours after scoring a hat trick.
FlamesNation Mailbag: Starting November with reader questions
The Calgary Flames won a game on Sunday in regulation, beating the Philadelphia Flyers by a 2-1 score. That doubled their season’s total of regulation wins to two. It’s been that sort of start to the season, gang.
As we turn our attention to what’s going to be a hectic November, with 15 games over 30 days, let’s dive into the mailbag!
PREVIEW: Blue Jackets begin Western swing at Flames
As the Blue Jackets got back to work Tuesday morning, there were no impassioned speeches or steely looks of determination.
It was just business as usual during the team’s morning practice ahead of a long flight to Calgary for tonight’s game against the Flames. That’s because while Sunday’s frustrating loss at the New York Islanders, in which Columbus gave up the tying and deciding goals in the last 1:07, largely had been flushed from the system.

Looking at the Flames schedule it does seem possible they could roll through the next few games. I do not want to stop the trajectory they are on. Listening to Frank yesterday on the FAN discuss the lack of sellers with the parity league wide this is a huge opportunity for Conroy.

I just watched the Johnny Gaudreau episode on Amazon Prime last night.
I friggin' love Sean Monahan.
Today is a great day for Flames hockey. It'd be nifty to see Monahan have a hell of a night, and to see the Flames gain a Mission McKenna point or two, but no matter what - it'll be awesome to sit down with a night of Flames hockey for the first time in a few days.

Well if the bad start was all about the schedule, the Flames need to start proving that now.

Wanted to get in here early before the endless pages of Team Tank and big 2 McKenna points crowd.
So happy for Kadri and his 1000th game. Always a cool accomplishment when they happen while wearing a Flames uniform! Win the game for Kadri!!!
Go Flames Go! Shut down the Team Tank crowd please, it is getting ad nauseam.

Kadri likely to have a monster game. Can't see the Flames dropping this one.

So Kuznetsov who could have a great future here and has been waiting to finally get a chance is going to sit for Jake Bean? Jesus.

While the logic may be underwhelming, he’s only played 1 Regular Season Game…giving him a game to watch the speed is not unreasonable. We shall see.

That could be premature outrage on two levels.
1) We don't actually know the lineups today.
2) Kuznetsov may be on a two practice or so plan before getting in.
Oh and Bean is 1st on the team in xGF%, 1st in xGF60 and 2nd in xGA60.

It's been pretty standard under Huska that call-ups sit for at least one game before playing unless they're an injury replacement.

Bean is first on a team where the defense has been bad. Do you think Bean is a better defenseman than everybody else on the team because advanced stats say so? That isn't a high bar. As I have said many times, advanced stats don't always tell the story. We can gather by lines at practice that unless someone gets injured or sick he is being scratched. Thirdly, we are not making the playoffs, exactly why does Kuznetsov need an extra practice or two to fit in?
