This is why I am looking less and less at "left" and "right" and more and more at "up" and "down". Everyone knows the Left and the Right.

Up = Corporatism
Down = Populism

American is 99.9% Corporatism. The Republicans and the Democrats are both full on Corporatists and will basically say whatever their corporate overlords tell them to.

Bernie is the 0.1% populist who is fighting for the people and against the corporations that are trying to buy / enslave all of the people.

Trying to look at the spectrums from a "progressive populist" position really just starts to show how the Libs and the Cons are really just doing the same thing but maybe for different Corporate overlords. They want you to pick between Coke vs. Pepsi and they do not want you to know that there is another choice.

Guess that’s the beauty of political labels. You can forget that people are individuals. Probably easier to dehumanize them if required.

Isn't that exactly how Charlie Kirk functioned? Labelled, grouped, and then disparaged? Easy to build a mob that way.

I mean Goriders literally does the same thing he’s talking about and has done so in this thread but it’s not like he responds to or even reads anything anyone says anyway so I wouldn’t count on an answer.

I must be reading the wrong stuff? In the earlier AP article I posted, none of the details really pointed to the shooter being conservative or liberal, but it did say that he didn't like Kirk's views

In the article below, it mentions that he's registered to vote but did not affiliate to any party, so saying he was a Democrat or Republican is false.

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/heres-know...5j0RzjH1JfXFCi

Quote:
He is registered to vote, though he lacks a party affiliation. His parents are registered Republicans.
This article mentions in more detail that the shooter disparaged Kirk. That doesn't tell us he's a Democrat for sure but to me, it would seem he's against all the gross stuff Kirk preached, which would align more to someone with a middle left view on things than a middle conservative view, no? Am I crazy?!

Quote:
At the dinner table before Kirk came to Utah Valley University for the event at which he was killed, Tyler Robinson talked in disparaging terms about the conservative activist, Cox said at the news briefing.

“They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints that he had,” Cox said. “The family member also stated Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate.”

Schwiermann said she believes social media may have played a role in shaping his views. “There’s just too much hate out there,” she said. “I know he wasn’t taught those things. I have no hate for him. Even though I loved Charlie Kirk, I’d rather try to understand what was going on in his mind.”
The details on the bullets seem to indicate that the shooter was against fascists and calling Kirk, Trump and the GOP fascists isn't something RWers do.... Again, Am I crazy?!

Quote:
One of the unfired casings, according to Cox, said: “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.” The lyrics reference the anthem of the antifascist Italian resistance during World War II.

Cox said that another read, “Hey fascist! Catch!”
There must be other articles out there that have other details that point to him being a conservative Republican...

The donations to Trump and Trump's super PAC seem to be what people are using to associate him with Trump.

I’ve seen what is supposedly his Discord, which seems to indicate he’s more of a Groyper. But who knows.

His afifiliation is kind of irrelevant. He appears to have been radicalized in the same ways many youth are today, and it sure isn't getting better. American society is kinda optimized for this, today. The lesson here for Canada should absolutely be to look at a lot of the things the US does, and not do those things here.

I don't care which side he is on, he did the world a favour. That's what matters.

The bullet casing referencing fascism doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I’ve encountered lots of RWrs online who have called people on the left, commies, socialists and fascists. I’ve been called a fascist lots of times by republicans. Seems to lots of people it’s just a dirty slur word with no understanding of meaning.

Wow, he was a father. I didn't agree with everything he said but no one deserves that fate for words and debating. You should re think your entitlement to share such hateful personal views on a public forum.

Should've heard it during Covid. Vaccination rules for establishments/travel compared to being forced to wear the Star of David on their arms in the ghettos during World War II. Such a repugnant comparison, always wildly exaggerating.

“ “Groypers” are fans of white nationalist agitator Nick Fuentes who like to hide their racism behind ironic jokes; when Kirk began making an effort to mainstream his ultra-right-wing Turning Point USA movement, Fuentes instructed them to publicly troll Kirk.

A Facebook photo in which Robinson appears to reference a Groyper meme has led to early speculation that Kirk’s killing may have been an outgrowth of these intra-far-right skirmishes. But another feature of the modern far-right is an embrace of the post-truth huckster. In these circles, it’s always possible that someone is playing a character—or will claim to be doing so, muddying the waters so no one can accuse them of having a sincere belief beyond the desire to rile up their targets. For people like this, the whole world is a forum board, where lewd public comments and real-world violence are becoming increasingly interchangeable. (Consider the messages left behind by the deceased shooter of Annunciation Catholic School, which were full of references to both other shooters and innocuous memes.)“
