Gare Joyce is more than familiar with Cherry and probably wasn't interested in asking him about anything. They have a history going back to the mid 90s

Good on him for calling this out long before anyone else was doing it.

			I always found Cherry's Euro-player prejudice hilarious.
 "Y-all ain't white enough!"

Well I guess that's what people thought of Italians and Greeks back in the day.

Both need to be launched into the sun.

He was talking mainly about Swedes/Fins/Russians. I don't think the racial obsession works on this one.

Not that they needed any encouragement but those two Oilers flanked Mario Lemieux at the crucial moment of the Canada Cup in ’87. Now you have two Oilers flanking Sid to a gold. You watch Eberle take off. He’s already been great in international hockey, but I think this is going to be his year, Taylor Hall’s year."

My impression is that he considers the best hockey players to be NA-white, and that the Euro-whites don't measure up.

But please, as a visible minority myself, do tell me how racism works.

When you're over 90, getting pneumonia can often be the beginning of the end.

I've heard of a lot of elderly people who go to the hospital with pneumonia, or go into the hospital for something else and catch pneumonia while they're there and they don't go home again.

Why would you want to dilute the word then? Doesn't really seem like the time to use it.

To add insult to injury, didn't Ronald also show up last year uninvited to Don's birthday and do a forced photo op at the table with him and his family for his social media?
If 'Oileresque' could be a personality, he's got it.

True, but it's also something you can get over just fine. Don Cherry lived through his incredible battle with pneumonia, and is still here.

Not even over 90, but yeah, its a thing. My FIL has had Pneumonia more times than I can remember. One time he was sanding his deck, got a sliver in his leg and it got infected, went to the Hospital and boom! Double Pneumonia. Happens all the time.

Either way, in the context of this article, nobody is arguing that Grapes is some sort of Saint despite being voted '7th Greatest Canadian' on CBC by viewers in 2004, but thats not really the point.

Yeah...he's an old dude, he has some really antiquated opinions (except about the French, those are still valid) but it doesnt change the fact that Ron is a POS who stabbed him in the back.

As for Mrs. Cherry who will not allow MacLean in her home? You stand strong Mrs. Cherry! Thats a Grudge worth holding.

Ronald was rocking skinny jeans last summer and going shirtless.

I used to love Ron McLean. I thought he was witty and a bit quirky. Then I read his book about 15 years ago and it totally turned me off of him. He sounded too cocky, hanger-on, he thought he was the best skater around. He thought he was such an insider.
Now he is way to biased towards certain teams and players and his once funny quips are approaching cringe worthy (not as bad as that curly haired Edm. fellow though)

What word is being diluted by your standards?

Are you implying that the word "racism" or "racist" should only be used in certain circumstances?

And please explain what "racial obsession" means.

Yeah reading his book was a real eye opener for me as well.
Which is so weird. I don't know where I've ever read an autobiography and have it give me so much more of a negative view of a person.
