I suspect that it isn't Conroy tying anything to Ekblad. However, teams in the market for RHD may be weighing those two options.

Said this earlier but it should be 1st + 2 x 2nds, like in the Chycryn deal. Or something like that depending on if Conroy wants a roster player back.

The chances of even a late 1st ever providing what he brings are slim to none.

He just 25 years old
He makes just 1M dollars
He's a phenomenal forechecker
He's a very good skater
He has strong metrics to date
He was 4th in the NHL in hits
He was 7th in the NHL in drawn penalties
He shot just 3.5% this past season

Jeannot for example got a 2nd and 4th after having just 18 points in 75 games in Tampa Bay and had just one year to UFA. Pospisil will still be an RFA at the expiration of this current deal.

I expect a move up in the 10-15 range, especially since there are teams now with consecutive picks.

Who knows if Rasmus is part of that, but with the excess picks and teams willing to move, I expect Conroy to move up if he sees a player fall in that range he likes.

People are getting upset because they want deals asap. But look at the signing Edmonton did this morning. Sometimes patience is a virtue.

I'd much rather have Conroy waiting for the right deal than to take the first offer given.
