I'm happy to be proven wrong.
I was wrong about the Kings. I was wrong about the Knights. I was wrong about the Stars. I'm happy to be wrong about the Oilers. It's a good thing I don't bet on sports.
The Oiler's regressed in the standings this year, they regressed in the fancy stats, their captain regressed, their depth regressed, their special teams regressed, their goaltending regressed. The only player on that team that is performing above last years performance is Draisaitl.
And yet, they've steamrolled their opponents this year in the playoffs. They got hot at the right time and nothing in game 5 against the Stars indicates that's slowed down.

I think the Oilers are playing above their roster and the Panthers are just playing as they should be. IMO its more likely the Panthers can keep it up.
Carolina had lost 2 games going into round 3

Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I think tonight shocks alot of people. The only time the Oilers have struggled so far is when the Kings played an aggressive forecheck with 2 men in, but then sat back and played prevent defense and let the Oilers just run at them. Stupid. Vegas and especially Dallas didn't play them hard enough. Fear of drawing penalties? Maybe. But Florida won't have that issue. That is their whole game. Some Oilers fan posted that 42 of 66 goals so far in the playoffs have been from the lower half of the slot.
Florida will punish their defensemen and drive the net hard. They won't stop to protect a lead. It will be too much for the Oilers to manage.

Let's take a look at Panthers' road to the SC Final:
First round
They steamrolled the Lightning in the first game 6-2. then they shut them out 2-0 in game 2. Game 3, they got clobbered 5-1. I was thinking uh oh, Lightning back in the series. Game 4, Panthers saying, no problemo, came out beat the Lightning 4-2. And then proceed to finish the series with a 6-2 win.
Second round
They lost to the Leafs in the first 2 games with scores of 5-4 and 4-3, down in series 2-0. I was thinking, hmmm...Leafs' year? Panthers gonna get swept? They went home and beat the Leafs next two games and shut them out in one of them, series tied. They went on the road and clobbered the Leafs with a 6-1 victory. When I thought they are gonna finish the Leafs at home, whadda you know, they got shut out. Series tied again! Leafs' year popped in the head again. Then, Panthers came out swinging in game 7, beat the Leafs 6-1 and won the series 4-3, guess it's not Leafs' year after all.
Third round
Against the Canes on the road I thought they'll be in trouble but first two games they scored 10 goals and only allowed 2 and a shutout. When I thought holy poop, they gonna sweep the Canes. But then, they lost the next two games at home and got shutout in game 4. It seemed like Maurice has no way to stop the Canes. But game 5, they came out swinging again, finished the series with a 5-3 victory.
What I'm trying to say is that it seems like Panthers has that switch they can go from just cruising and then boom! Yes, Oilers have been cruising through three round, and that probably a problem for them. They haven't gone through any adversity and they haven't played a team that going along like a Chevy and then boom, fuel injected to be like a Lamborghini. And it's up to Knob to find a way to stop it.
Sorry for the long post, I think it's more of Panthers year to repeat than Oilers year to win it all.

Exactly! I'm not sure why so many on this forum think that 2 players can elevate a team to victory over a 7 game series. Hockey is a team game and the Panthers have it down to a fine art.

I’m starting to suspect that some people in this thread have only watched Oilers games all playoffs long. Almost as if they were cheering for them from the very beginning…

If anyone needs some good vibes, I recommend re-watching the Amazon documentary from last year, especially the last episode. It starts with the “dig in!” Moment, and I laughed out loud when in the interview Drai said “ No one wants to win more than him” (talking about Connor). You know, except anyone who’s ever played the game with any amount of competitive spirit. Connor got the Conn Smythe and SN drooling all over him, and that’s all that matters.
I’m at the part right now where they won game four and are convincing themselves that they have Florida on the run. It’s so much more enjoyable, knowing how it ends.

Im sure it wlll be a good series . I just hope its called evenly . Theres absolutely NOTHING that feels good about the oilers .
They have to manufacture BS to even talk about . Ice Shavings from rinks ....what?
Lets go into the players homes with Ron MaC and collect pubes from the sink drains and make a nut knit sweater for his retirement.
Seriously grasping for anything to talk about that has any form of something id care about doesnt exist.
You are NOT Canada's team either and my 03/04 Flames team was Canadas team and Edmonton you had your Chance but look at your roster . Poster boy, misfit, wanna be poster boi, Rapist, reclamation project, reclamation project, former this, former that and team owned by.a pedo.
Florida through and through has more good things going on that doesnt reek of drama desperation angst and theatrics.
I hope they are able to get the sweep this year . Man this is alot of hockey in 3 years but man they just have looked casually dominant this year. Having fun and not head hunting , getting away with targeting infractions and absolutely garbage hockey.
If push comes to shove this year. I hope theyll let Tkachuk , Bennett and Marchy off thier short leashes and let them go when Kane, Nurse, Perry , Try getting in extra crap just one time but i think the cats want to repeat bad enough that theyll reel it in skate away knowing ultimately tgat sacrifice is something the gresepigs dont understand enough.
God i hope Edmonton tries but pays hard for their stupidity when they retaliate.
