The sad part is that I don’t think he can even call and ask that pizza place for his job back.

Thank goodness someone who cares about unemployment and homelessness won. Poilievre will get the support he needs.

I think what would be smart is to put MPs from Sask and AB into those positions so they can help shape the policy going forward... oh wait. We would rather sit outside the arena and listen on the radio while others are playing the game. When will we ever learn? Maybe it will be different next time? Hahaha.

something like this?

Tableau Public is a good resource for almost anything. This is only 2004-2015. Email the guy and ask him to add more years!

I agree with your point, but am interested in the legitimate things to be critical of him.

So far, I have heard he did a good job for his employers. I really don't see how this is a criticism. He is an advocate of environmentalism, but it appears to me he knows the value of the O/G industry and that oil will be around for a long time, but we do need to figure out how to use it without killing the planet. This seems like a reasonable approach to me.

I would like to hear any legitimate criticisms.

Now it's pretty obvious there are only scattered remnants of PC's left in the party, and they've fully transformed it back to that party no one wants to elect, except they now stand a chance because they don't have a vote split.

This, ultimately, is the fault of Preston Manning, who has done more damage to traditional Conservatives than the Liberals have in the history of the country by eliminating them from Alberta and at the Federal level. I wish I lived in a timeline where he didn't exist.
This is pretty harsh, but I think it is reasonably accurate as well. What we don't realize is that the Ezra, PP, Manning types are political nerds who know how to take over a party. It all happens at the grass level, party leadership level. Hardly anyone cares, and it's easy to overwhelm these groups with supporters and win the levers of power. From there, they can control the policies and the candidates. When the cancer is in charge of the party, they are not about to expel the other cancers that think like them. Truly, we have a faux democracy; we get to vote, but that vote is between two, or sometimes more, candidates that are a product of the Kool-Aid of each party. Unfortunately, the best supporters are usually pretty passionate, which gives them the drive and energy to attend all the meetings, plot and scheme, and put in the time to take over the parties. Maybe it can be a route to the power they crave.

I wish I had an answer. I don't. I am tired just getting through my day.

Given how quick they were to oust O'Toole for his election failure, I can't imagine the Conservatives will keep Poilievre. But the lifetime politician will likely squirm more than anyone to find a way to stick around politics.

My criticism is the refusal of successive federal governments (lib & con) to find a way to build energy export infrastructure. Canada could have had a seat at the big boy global security table if this was the case.

I do not work in O&G btw.

I don't either. But I think we are far too eager to pull our crude out of the ground and ship it off at discount prices. If we are to build more pipelines to export to other markets. I'd also like to see similar investment in upgrading so that we are getting more value out of the resource.

I think that's a fine overall. It's hard to really pin it on Carney though.

Is it possible for Carney work with the bloc to get a pipeline through Quebec? With the ground shifting I think it’s possible. Carney probably couldn’t say this during the campaign for fear of pushing votes away.

He doesn't have to work with the Bloc if the CPC agrees to do business instead of playing politics. If PP cares as much about a strong and secure Canada as he says he does, he should be trying to make a deal with Carney that cuts the Bloc and NDP out.

Does a pipeline need to go through Quebec? A line direct to Ontario consumers should be enough no?

I do not work in O&G btw.

I mean, people keep saying this, but there are 2 new export routes that exist despite being built during the Trudeau years.

TMX is a bit of a mess financially, but it doesn't get built without the support of Federal Liberal and Alberta NDP Governments.

LNG Canada is coming on line, another project that was approved and constructed while the Liberals have been in power.

By contrast, Conservative Governments in alberta have:
1) cancelled an oil by rail project put in place by the Alberta NDP (Can't remember the cost, but the UCP actually spent money to be able to export less)
2) Spent 1.5 B on a pipeline with very real risk of being cancelled (That's why TC wanted someone to put up the money....in case that happened), and it did.
So again they spend a bunch of money to not be able to export any more oil.

So you've got:
Conservatives: Spending money for no benefit
Liberals: Spent more, but at least there are 2 new export lines/facilities going to the west coast

The Liberals certainly haven't been perfect, but let's not pretend like the Conservatives have a lead here. Hell, the score isn't even tied.

Alberta shocks nation with same election results they’ve turned out since 1958
